of India preserve the diverse and rich legacy of Indian medical heritage, including the AYUSH system Activities:
Survey and acquisition of rare medical manuscripts and rare books on Ayush systems of medicine, Modern medicine etc., in different languages. Transcription, transliteration, translation, and publication of medical works based on manuscripts, rare books, and unpublished works related to Ayush systems and to bring out critical editions in print & electronic form. Collection of medical information from other sources like ancient non-medical literature – Vedas, Puranas etc., Archaeological & Epigraphical sources, accounts of foreign travellers in India. Study of historical development and evolution of concepts of diseases, drugs and other aspects of Ayush Systems. Preparation of biographies of physicians/authors, and commentators of classical medical literature of different periods. Projects for writing History of Medicine Area wise, Period wise, and Theme wise. Collection, editing, and publication of News & Notes and historical materials, including the publication of the Bulletin of the Institute & Monographs. Organization of exhibitions on some specific occasions like seminars, celebrations, etc., to exhibit the development of medicine in India and for dissemination of Indian Medical systems. Referral services and guidance to research scholars. Preparation of bibliographies of journals/articles on the History of Medicine. Collection of oral history i.e., audio recording and the historical background and other details like palm-leaf and paper manuscripts, old books, certificates of grants, awards, etc., from hereditary physicians and traditional medical practitioners in and around Hyderabad city. Development and maintenance of Medico-historical Library. Development and maintenance of Medico-historical Museum. Design and development of IT applications to document and preserve Ayush medical heritage. Maintaining CCRAS-RMIS (Research Management Information System) – a continuous service since March 2014.

🌿 Unlocking Ancient Wisdom for a Modern World! 📜✨
On January 31st, 2026, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, and Berhampur University, Odisha, officially signed an MoU to digitize and catalogue rare Ayurvedic palm-leaf manuscripts, books, and periodicals housed at the South Odisha Cultural Study Centre (SOCSC).
Today, February 2nd, the technical ex*****on has officially begun! A specialized team from the CCRAS-National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage (NIIMH), Hyderabad, working under the CDCAMR Project and guided by Dr G.P. Prasad, Assistant Director In-charge, visited Berhampur University to initiate the on-site digitisation process.
The team received a heartfelt welcome from the Prof. Sukant Kumar Triphati, Chairman PG Council, Dr. Sadanad Nayak, HOD, PG Department of History, Dr. Sameer Bhoi, Coordinator, South Odisha Cultural Study Centre, Dr. Laxmidhar Rout, IQAC, Joint Director, faculty members, and staff, marking the start of a journey to ensure this "sacred knowledge" is preserved for generations to come.
This monumental project is made possible through the vision and leadership of:

Prasad, Assistant Director In-charge, the CCRAS- National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad, organised the inauguration of the Review meeting of the Public Health Care Research Program project titled “Documentation of Ethno-dietary Practices and Documentation of Plants, metals, minerals, etc. used in religious practices and Rituals” (SAMPADA) for the 2nd Batch scheduled from 02-06th February 2026.
The Project Officers and Staff from Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Bhubaneswar, Patiala, and Kolkata; Regional Ayurvedic Research Institute (RARI), Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada, Itanagar, Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Lucknow, and Port Blair under CCRAS participated physically, and approximately 20 participants from other Institutes of CCRAS joined virtually in the event. In-charge, from NIIMH, welcomed the participants and delivered presentations on the topic “Documentation of plants, metals, minerals, animal products and other materials used in various Indigenous religious practices and rituals across India.

📜 Unlocking Ancient Wisdom for a Modern World! 📜
The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, and Berhampur University, Odisha, have officially signed an MoU to digitise and catalogue rare Ayurvedic palm-leaf manuscripts, books, and periodicals in housed at the South Odisha Cultural Study Centre (SOCSC), Berhampur University. These precious documents hold centuries of untapped Ayurvedic knowledge that will now be preserved for future generations.

CCRAS-NIIMH, हैदराबाद द्वारा भारतीय चिकित्सा विरासत एवं लोक-आहार पद्धतियों के संरक्षण हेतु ‘संपदा’ परियोजना की प्रथम समीक्षा बैठक का आयोजन
हैदराबाद, 20 जनवरी, 2026: केंद्रीय आयुर्वेदीय विज्ञान अनुसंधान परिषद (CCRAS), आयुष मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के अंतर्गत कार्यरत सीसीआरएएस-राष्ट्रीय भारतीय चिकित्सा संपदा संस्थान (NIIMH), रेविन्यू बोर्ड कॉलोनी, गड्डीअनारम, हैदराबाद द्वारा जन-स्वास्थ्य अनुसंधान कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत संचालित “भारत की लोक-आहार पद्धतियों तथा धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों में प्रयुक्त पौधों, धातुओं, खनिजों आदि का दस्तावेजीकरण” विषयक ‘संपदा’ परियोजना की समीक्षा हेतु चार सप्ताह की बैठकों का आयोजन किया गया है। ये बैठकें दिनांक 19 जनवरी से 13 फरवरी, 2026 तक चार अलग-अलग चरणों में आयोजित की जाएंगी।
इन समीक्षा बैठकों में परिषद के अधीनस्थ 26 संस्थानों के प्रतिनिधि भाग ले रहे हैं, जो विभिन्न राष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रमों के अंतर्गत कार्यरत हैं, जिनमें आयुर्वेद मोबाइल हेल्थ केयर प्रोग्राम-अनुसूचित जाति उप-योजना (AMHCP-SCSP), महिला एवं बाल स्वास्थ्य देखभाल कार्यक्रम-अनुसूचित जाति उप-योजना (WCH-SCSP), जनजातीय स्वास्थ्य अनुसंधान कार्यक्रम (THCRP), आयुर्वेद स्वास्थ्य केंद्र-उत्तर-पूर्व क्षेत्र (AHC-NER) तथा चिकित्सा-नृवंशविज्ञान सर्वेक्षण (MBS) प्रमुख हैं।
इसी क्रम में 19 जनवरी, 2026 को प्रथम समीक्षा बैठक का शुभारंभ हुआ, जिसकी अध्यक्षता महानिदेशक प्रो. (वैद्य) रबिनारायण आचार्य, उप-महानिदेशक डॉ. एन. श्रीकांत तथा एनआईआईएमएच के प्रभारी सहायक निदेशक डॉ. जी.पी. प्रसाद के मार्गदर्शन में की गई। 20 जनवरी, 2026 को अपने संबोधन में महानिदेशक प्रो. (वैद्य) रबिनारायण आचार्य ने कहा कि आहार एवं अनुष्ठान-आधारित प्रथाओं का वैज्ञानिक एवं व्यवस्थित दस्तावेजीकरण न केवल शोध समुदाय, अपितु समाज के लिए भी अत्यंत उपयोगी है। इस समीक्षा बैठक में राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद पंचकर्म अनुसंधान संस्थान (NARIP), चेरुतुरुथी; केंद्रीय आयुर्वेद अनुसंधान संस्थान (CARI), नई दिल्ली तथा डॉ. अचंता लक्ष्मीपति क्षेत्रीय आयुर्वेद अनुसंधान संस्थान (RARI), चेन्नई के अधिकारि यों ने प्रत्यक्ष रूप से भाग लिया। इसके अतिरिक्त देशभर से सीसीआरएएस के विभिन्न संस्थानों के लगभग 80 प्रतिभागी वर्चुअल माध्यम से बैठक से जुड़े।
बैठक में सीसीआरएएस मुख्यालय के नोडल अधिकारी डॉ. एन. सिद्धमलय, डॉ. सुनीता माटा एवं डॉ. कल्पना कचरे के साथ-साथ डॉ. वी. सुभोस, डॉ. वी. श्रीदेवी, डॉ. टी. साकेत राम, डॉ. संतोष एस. माने, डॉ. बिस्व रंजन दास तथा एनआईआईएमएच के शोधकर्ताओं की टीम ने सक्रिय सहभागिता की। सभी विशेषज्ञों ने भारत की समृद्ध चिकित्सा एवं सांस्कृतिक विरासत के संरक्षण और संवर्धन के उद्देश्य से ‘संपदा’ परियोजना को अत्यंत महत्त्वपूर्ण बताया।
