Liver has some 500 different functions. Especially important among these is helping to process the food.

A brief summary of the liver’s functions follows:
*processing digested food from the intestine
*controlling levels of fats, amino acids and glucose in the blood
*combating infections in the body
*clearing the blood of particles and infections including bacteria
*neutralising and destroying drugs and toxins
*manufacturing bile
*storing iron, vitamins and other essential chemicals
*breaking down food and turning it into energy
*manufacturing, breaking down and regulating numerous hormones including s*x hormones
*making enzymes and proteins which are responsible for most chemical reactions in the body, for example those involved in blood clotting and repair of damaged tissues.

Some of the most important functions include:

Producing quick energy:

One of liver’s most important functions is to break down food and convert it into energy when you need it. Carbohydrates such as bread and potatoes from our diet are broken down to glucose and stored mainly in the liver and muscles as glycogen. When energy is required in an emergency the liver rapidly converts its store of glycogen back into glucose ready for the body to use.

Liver also helps the body to get rid of waste products. Waste products which are not excreted by your kidneys are removed from the blood by the liver. Some of them pass into the duodenum and then into the bowel via the bile ducts.

People with liver damage may sometimes lose the ability to control glucose concentration in the blood and need a regular supply of sugar.

Fighting infections:

Liver plays a vital role in fighting infections, particularly infections arising in the bowel. It does this by mobilising part of your body’s defence mechanism called the macrophage system. The liver contains over half of the body’s supply of macrophages, known as Kuppfer cells, which literally destroy any bacteria that they come into contact with.

The tendency toward leukonychia striata is sometimes inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion. In other cases, it can be attributed to vigorous manicuring, to trauma, or to a wide variety of systemic illnesses. In many patients, there is no obvious cause, and the streaks resolve spontaneously.

Hostel Card:

-> All students are required to apply for new hostel cards according to the new rules from rectorate

-> For applying students should go to Madam Ann in room no 9 with the hostel permission slip from the contrator and the previous hostel cards after 1:00 pm only every working day

->After getting concerned documents from room no 9 students should visit the building located behind the Dean's office to prepare new plastic card which will be done from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM everyday

-> New plastic hostel card costs 50 UAH

Knowledge Day in our university into a real holiday - was vividly decorated improvised scene, students first and sixth courses lined up in a row, raised flags fluttering above university blue sunny skies. In the initiation ceremony of students participated - University Rector Prof. VK Ivchenko, vice-rector on scientific and pedagogical work Simrok Professor VV, Vice-Rector Professor Pustovoy JG, rector of clinicalProfessor Joffe IV, rector of scientific and pedagogical (educational) work associate Bibik VV, deans of faculties. Hippocrates, accompanied by Greek goddesses lit the fire of knowledge. Quartet students completed student anthem "Gaudeamus" (Leah Hubua, Jordan Anthony, Konstantin Tarasov, Solomon). A dedication to freshmen students and rang the first bell.
