Sticky eye is quiet common in new borns.
The tube connecting eye to nose is the lacrimal duct. It is still filled with debris post delivery and needs a gentle eye massage before each feed for the drainage of tears to get gng.
Rarely the tears accumulate and form a sticky eye.
Here I have shown use of artificial tears ( REFRESH TEARS) to drain the eye of secretions.
Never use an antibiotic eye drops in the babies eye unless prescribed by a pediatrician. As most sticky eyes are a result of NASOLACRIMAL DUCT block rather than an infection.

75 ml Formula per feed but not gaining weight - reason?

Mother was mixing less formula for more water = over dilution and poor energy and nutrient intake and sometimes hyponatremia and severe brain damage in the long run.
Request all health care staff to advice proper mixing of formula before the leave ur place - be it doctor or pharmacist or the nurse.

Baby won't let them burp. Kept on falling back - just 20 days old.
I showed them easy technique.
Also told them it cud be a sign of reflux and review in a week after regularly doing - burping, cycling, tummy time and burping and double burping like the way I showed em.
Moms diet and latch and diet were given a revisit and corrections done.

U know cord has a direct connection to the heart thru liver. So if something gets in may reach the liver and heart too. Ex infection leading to sepsis.
don't let the diaper keep on hitting it when the baby flexes legs
Don't apply anything from a to z over the cord unless advised.

I have seen people applying turmeric, cowdung, ash, oil, ointments etc. I have seen people burning it too.
There shluld be no confusion. Leaving the card alone is the best way forward.
As advised if there is a foul smell, redness, swelling or bleed
Ur pediatrician is the best one to advise further. Do not self treat.

Never do this in the clinic.
Its a real story happened with one of my close frnds baby. Culprit was granny - but it could be any one so be careful.

Day 36/40 - gym day. Severe body aches from yesterday's badminton tourney. Just a bit of warmup and cardio. No weights.
