Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are people who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.

Globally, 1.3 billion people (16%; WHO 2023) live with a disability; yet PwD remain significantly under-represented in clinical trials.

A review of 2,710 clinical trials found that 35.3% explicitly excluded PwD, and another 44.5% implicitly excluded PwD due to restrictive or unclear criteria. These exclusions affected individuals with cognitive, sensory, physical, behavioural/psychiatric, and communication disabilities [1].

Inclusion of PwD in clinical trials is necessary to ensure the safety & efficacy of medicines in this population, reduce disparities and promote equitable healthcare and address historical gaps.

To improve recruitment of PwD, clinical researchers must scientifically justify disability-related exclusions, explicitly state inclusion of disabilities and facilitate participation of PwD by providing the required resources and support.

Let us work to build a healthcare system where everyone receives the same quality of care.

Online violence against women, which includes sharing sexually explicit images of women without their knowledge and consent, doxing, grooming, cyber bullying, stalking and trolling is pernicious and frequently leads to physical violence in real life.

It is rapidly rising due to the lack of proper regulation of digital platforms and laws against such aggression. Today is the start of the 16 days UNiTE campaign calling governments to pass laws that punish these crimes, technology companies to make their platforms safe and free from harmful content, donors to fund organizations that work on eradicating this violence and us to raise our voices in support of the victims.

At JSTL we believe women deserve a world where they feel safe, respected and equal. Today we reaffirm our commitment to providing a safe, supportive and empowering environment to all women in our organization. On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we stand together in the call to end online violence against women.
