I am sharing my experience: The difference I felt was-" I was carrying something extra all the time." Losing weight not only just allows you to fit in to your desired cloths or dance as you used to or move freely or get parallel with your partner or become more stable in a relationship…so on, more importantly what I felt the changes were - "I felt, I became more me", I became more confident, I had nothing to hide, I became more truthful, more honest to myself and very light feeling about life which were very precious. I am very sure, trust me, you will find out many different changes with weight loss which are much more critical than weight and might be you don't know all the changes you are going feel now apart from the obvious ones. I am a Health Coach and I help people lose weight but in a way that is only permanent and sensible. I coach methods on life style and food habits. It is not my working style but backed up by data that dieting, diet chart, specific food, powder, pills…does not work. I am not a Dietitian/Nutritionist or follow any popular diet on internet because I know very well that dieting only gives you more weight, plus you will blame yourself more. The on and off dieting journey spans for many years before you realize that it is really not helping. I can bet that people who were on diet or restricted their urge to eat, and fought hard with themselves are eventually going to put on weight. If any diet in the history of mankind had ever worked(cannot be hidden in this internet era), we all would have been thin! So I wonder if people know that the typical outcome of dieting in a long run is to gain weight, why to start that in the first place? Why do we keep doing the same thing and expecting different results? Dieting may be trendy affair, but it also reduces your self-confidence with its failure. And when you don’t have the control, you cannot control your kids as well or the generation coming next to you, that is not very good news. So, what do I coach? How do I help people lose weight? I do provide information related to food, which food items need to be reduced, what needs to be integrated for weight loss, and recipes to experiment, how to read the food level and understand what is good for you, increase your food awareness through information and practice. But my core principle as Health Coach is to help you develop a Healthy system/process which is going to serve you lifelong. There are multiple pieces under the system which I work with people. Couple of crucial ones: 1. Mindful eating 2. practice of slowing down/chewing more 3. Understand your hunger and body more 4. Develop healthy cooking habits 5. Reduce sugar and carbohydrates from daily intake…..and so on. As a coach I teach this approach on how you build this relationship and intuitive eating with the practice of elimination diet and out of your own experience. By learning to listen to your body and discovering an understanding of what foods it needs and when it needs them, you will discover what is best for you. There are 25 practices which I teach depending on the Health goals of the individual. Because each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, there cannot be a universal food defined. And I also look at other aspects of individual which has direct impact on health. The food on your plate is secondary to healthy relationships, regular physical activity, a fulfilling career, and a spiritual practice – all of which can fill your soul and satisfy your hunger for life. In the first session, I discuss and understand what is the current food and life style habits. Then I discuss the history of dieting attempts and outcomes. I try to understand the current life style challenges and what can fit in quickly. If there is any ancestral food habits and pattern given to you. If there was any changes in food and life style happened in the past due to various reasons. What are your cravings and impact on your health? Is there any health challenges or medication in progress? And then discuss about your health concern and health goals.
Figure out what you truly want to accomplish long-term for yourself. Understand how you may be getting in your own way of reaching these goals.
