Dhamma Giri Dhamma Giri, ‘Hill of Dhamma’ is the world’s largest meditation centre and the main centre of a global Vipassana organization.

It is dedicated to the teaching of Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.

Today, we commemorate a momentous occasion – the day when the first Vipassana course in India was conducted by Kalyanamitta Satyanarayan Goenka ji, at Panchayati Wadi in Mumbai on 3rd July 1969. This marks a day of great historical importance and joy for us, his Dhamma sons and daughters.

As we reflect on this auspicious day, what better tribute to our Dhamma Father than to meditate and express our deep gratitude for this invaluable Gem of Dhamma. The very first course in India was conducted from 3rd July to 14th July 1969, with Goenkaji’s parents and twelve other students participating.
