Test goiter causes and diagnosis
Goiter can affect anyone and can exist from birth, and only appear in the advanced stages, and is more a Communist after the age of 50 years.
There are some risk factors that lead to goiter:
Lack of iodine in the daily diet:
People living in areas less iodine and people who don't get iodine supplements are more prone to the risk of inflation.
S*x:
Women are more vulnerable than men to infection and thyroid disorders are also more vulnerable to inflation.
Age:
Increase the risk of this disease by age 50 years and older.
Medical history:
People with a family history of autoimmune disease are more susceptible to inflation.
Pregnancy and the menstrual cycle:
Can thyroid problems occurs after pregnancy or after menstruation.
Medicines:
There are some medications may increase the risk of goiter including immune suppressants, antidepressants, heart medication, medicine mental disorders.
Radiation exposure:
The risk increases if the person had received radiation therapy to the neck or chest or if subjected to radiation in the origin of nuclear work or when a medical test or accident.
Complications:
Inflation in the thyroid does not cause physical or aesthetic problems and are not a concern, but the large and obvious inflation causes difficulty in breathing and swallowing can cause cough and hoarseness of voice, inflation occurs because of deficiencies or an overactive thyroid and may be associated with a number of symptoms from fatigue or weight gain or weight loss, irritability and difficulty sleeping.
Tests and diagnosis:
Can a doctor detect goiter with case sensitive neck with his hand and the swallowing infected during the scan, in some cases, the doctor can detect whether a hand sensor node.
Hormone test:
Blood tests determine the amount of hormones detachment of the thyroid and pituitary gland, if inactive thyroid hormone level will be low and at the same time they have high TSH hormone level that the pituitary gland to stimulate the thyroid gland to secrete hormones.
Antibody testing:
Factors causing goiter is the secretion of abnormal antibodies, so blood analysis is recommended.
Ultrasound examination:
Is a device resembling a stick emits sound waves and passing the device to the neck and back image appears on your computer screen and reveal the size of the thyroid and if containing a doctor could not detect.
Thyroid scan:
During the examination of the thyroid will be injected with a radioactive isotope in the vein of the arm, then the patient is lying down on the bed with head back and then take a picture with your camera for hypothyroidism and appear on your computer screen. This examination gives information on the nature of the gland and their size but tired and needs a longer time to results and costly compared with ultrasound examination. (
