She was only 23
young, vibrant, and full of life.
Durga Puja was around, her favourite time of the year.
New clothes, friends, photo sessions everything was planned.
Then one morning, her period tracker turned red.
Right in the middle of Puja week.
She panicked.
“Can’t I delay it for just a few days?” she asked her friend.
Her friend replied casually,
“Of course. Just take this pill. I’ve taken it too — it’s safe.”
Without a second thought, she started taking it.
One pill every day, only to postpone her period.
Three days later, she felt pain in her right leg.
She brushed it off as fatigue from too much walking.
The next morning, her leg was swollen.
By evening, she was gasping for breath.
She was rushed to the hospital.
Oxygen mask. IV fluids. Emergency care.
🔔 Diagnosis: Deep Vein Thrombosis with Pulmonary Embolism.‼️
A blood clot had formed in her leg
and travelled to her lungs.
The cause?
That so-called “safe” pill.
She survived
but the damage left deep scars,
both on her body and in her mind.
Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCPs) are not dangerous by themselves.
When used correctly and under medical guidance,
they help and protect millions of women.
But when taken without advice,
they can become life-threatening.
So before you think,
“I’ll just take a pill to delay my period,”
please consult a doctor first.
Because sometimes,
postponing your period for a few days
can cost you your entire life.
And remember
not entering temples during menstruation is only a superstition.
We are all children of God,
and He never considers us impure.
If you have ever thought of taking pills to delay your period
please don’t do it without medical guidance.
Your life is far more precious than any festival.
