BONE CANCERS
ORTHO - ONCOLOGY is a newly developing super-Speciality of Orthopedics which deals with any abnormal GROWTH from a bone or tissues around a bone called as BONE and SOFT TISSUE TUMOUR . A tumour can be harmless ie benign OR dangerous that can kill a patient ie MALIGNANT.
Benign tumour can be easily treated and removed BUT malignant tumours need specialised expertise to manage.
Usually Malignant tumours in limbs end up in amputation ( cutting of a part of limb apart for ever) if not treated by trained Orthopedic surgeon But since as I am trained at TATA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL,Mumbai, we have been able to save a few limbs from amputation by removing all bone cancer and implanting MEGAPROSTHESIS.The patients can also bend move the joint.
BONE CANCERS should be treated by trained Orthopedic surgeon only to save the limb
