Jumbish

Jumbish Works towards mental well-being & social justice through community building. We are dance/movement therapists.

We use movement for rejuvenating and healing the mind and body. Dance/movement therapy (DMT) is used to explore and empower the self, develop confidence, relieve stress, form a positive body image, and to enhance body movement and social skills. It can be used to improve one’s relationship with the self and body. It can be used to overcome emotional hurdles or questions. It can be used in all age groups, from children to the elderly. It can be used with special groups such as children with learning difficulties, people with chronic diseases and people who have suffered loss, trauma or abuse. DMT helps one discover new ways of experiencing the body. Most of us stop exploring movements and what the body can do as we grow up. DMT is a way to once again play with movement, and in doing so connect with the self in a more wholesome manner. At Jumbish we work with a wide range of participants through schools, clinics, hospitals, NGOs and private group therapy for individuals. Currently we are based out of Mumbai and Indore and have projects in Delhi & NCR.

We are extremely happy to share that our first basti centre, which will serve as a centre for learning, a library and a therapeutic/creative space for children, adolescents and women, was inaugurated in Ahirkhedi basti in Indore.
The collective journey of preparing the space and making it our own was led by children and youth and was filled with music, dance and joy. Hoping to create a safe space full of care, joy and solidarity in the days to come.
