पड़ाव जैसलमेर…
यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहरों को अब तक सँभाले हुए , पीले बलुआ पत्थरों से बना हुआ, थार रेगिस्तान के किनारे का यह शहर ऊँचे ऊँचे महलों/ हवेलियों और बहुत सुंदर छोटे छोटे घरों के कारण आपको पहली बार में वशीभूत कर लेता है। वाहनों के शोर शराबें से दूर संकरी पर बेहद खूबसूरत शांत गालियों से गुजरते हुए मुझे एकबारगी तो लगा की मैं मानो १२ वीं शताब्दी में आ गया हूँ।पूरी दुनिया के किसी भी ऐतिहासिक शहर के इतर ये शहर, यहाँ के मकान, यहाँ की गलियाँ और यहाँ लगा हुआ एक एक पत्थर मानो इतिहास की किसी घटना को बयान करने की कोशिश करता दिखा। यहाँ के महान शासकों की गौरव गाथा जैसी कहानी विश्व इतिहास की बहादुरी और शौर्य की कहानीयों में सबसे जानदार है। जैसलमेर शहर का स्थान इतिहास में विशिष्ट महत्त्व का है। यह शहर भारत के उत्तर-पश्चिमी सीमा पर बहुत दूर तक फैले होने के कारण यहाँ के लोगो ने कई बार अरबों तथा तुर्कियों के प्रारंभिक हमलों को न केवल सहन किया वरन् वीरता और दृढ़ता के साथ इन बाहरी आक्रांताओं के आक्रमणों को पीछे धकेलकर राजस्थान, गुजरात तथा मध्य भारत को सदियों तक सुरक्षित रखा।यहाँ घूमते हुए बार बार मुझे लग रहा है मानो मैं 1178 के समय में आ पहुँचा हूँ।
हर जगह लगा मानो यहाँ के विशाल पत्थर मुझे कुछ कहने की कोशिश कर रहे है। लगता है इतिहास के पन्नो कि तरह ये शहर हमेशा मेरे ज़ेहन में रहने वाला है। मन कर रहा है एक बार और, फिर से इस शहर में इन्ही सब पत्थरों से बात करने लौट के आऊँ।
