The Most Common Sports Injuries:
Shoulder Injury that involve overhead movement. They are generally due to overuse and causes pain, stiffness and slipping.
They can be treated with range of motion exercises and physical therapy followed by rehabilitative exercises.
Lower Back Strain which happens usually from awkward twisting, lifting heavy weight or doing unpracticed sports. It can be treated with stretching, orthotic lifts, etc.
Neck Strain usually occurs in one side of the neck. The muscles may tighten up and stiffen after a long period in an awkward position. It can be treated with gentle stretch from side to side or in semi circular motions.
Twisted Ankle happens when the foot turns inward and might tear the ligament on the outside of the ankle. This happens mostly during jumping, running and turning quickly. It can be treated with balance training or ankle braces.
Tennis Elbow is an inflammation of the muscle and tendons of the forearm. It happens due to repetitive movements while playing sport like tennis, badminton. It needs physiotherapy and might need prolonged break from the sport.
Runners Knee occurs due to overuse which results in swelling and pain in the knee. But it can be treated with soft tissue massage, rest between workouts, cross training, warm up and cool down exercises and application of ice pack for 20 minutes after activity.
Shin splint is another sports injury that happens due to jumping, running on hard surfaces which causes pain in the muscle near or around shin bones.
It can be treated with applying ice, stretching and anti- inflammatory medications.
Muscle Pull or cramps happen due to strain, overuse, fatigue or a fall. It happens when all of a sudden severe force is applied to the muscle and the fibres are stretched beyond their capacity. It can be treated with rest, ice pack, and gentle stretch.
