Macular scars are one of the major causes of permanent central vision loss.
Unfortunately, once the macula—the most sensitive part of the retina—is damaged,
the affected cells cannot regenerate.
These are specialised neurons, and the body is unable to reproduce them.
That’s why removing a macular scar is not possible,
and complete reversal of the damage cannot be achieved.
However, the good news is that with timely diagnosis and treatment,
we can often prevent further progression of the disease.
💉 Injections or targeted retinal treatments help to stabilise the condition,
especially once the underlying causes are identified —
such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or genetic predisposition.
Early evaluation, controlling systemic factors,
and regular retina check-ups are the best ways to
preserve existing vision and avoid further narrowing of sight.
✨ While the damage may not be 100 % reversible,
it can be stopped from getting worse with proper care.
