At a time when day care practices where not so common among the doctors and care providers the founder of Nethra Eye care Dr.PV Thomas came up with the concept of day care procedures for cataract surgeries.For what a patient had to spend an average 3 days previously now it can be done in a day.That is how we came up with a unique idea of implementing this practice. I remember listening to Dr.Thomas narrating his days as an ophthalmic surgeon while he worked in the government sector and how patients had to have a stay back of 3 to 4 days . This increased the cost and the families found it increasingly difficult to arrange the stay in the hospital. It was his practice back in those days even to have a patient operated and send them, back the same day. This later led to starting fresh with a few care givers and available resources to what we see today as Nethra Eye care center along with a new branch at kodungallore. We offer services in the area of cataract, glaucoma, retinal & corneal conditions, occuloplasty, squint,orbit &socket surgeries, lacrimal system and lasik. We participate in community activities.organizing free camps, screening at schools and surgery free of cost to deserving candidates.
