A 3-year-old child presented with a dog bite injury . The wound was sutured at a local facility where strict aseptic precautions were not followed. Within a few days of suturing, the child developed signs of wound infection including redness, swelling, pain, and discharge of pus from the wound site. The child also showed low-grade fever .

On examination, the wound site was warm, tender, and had purulent discharge suggestive of secondary bacterial infection likely due to contamination during suturing. The child was started on appropriate antibiotic therapy and wound care, including regular cleaning and dressing. Further evaluation ruled out systemic spread of infection or underlying immune compromise.

This case highlights the importance of strict sterile technique during wound management, especially in bite injuries where bacterial contamination is a high risk. It also underlines the need for close follow-up to detect early signs of infection and prevent complications.
