REQUEST LETTER

(NH-65 Vijayawada–Hyderabad National Highway – Ramapuram X Road Flyover Naming Request)

The Hon’ble Chief Minister,
Government of Telangana,
Hyderabad.

Subject:

Request to name the NH-65 Flyover at Ramapuram X Road (Andhra–Telangana Border, Pulichintala–Nagarjuna Sagar Approach Route) after Sri Raja Vasireddy Ramagopala Krishna Maheswara Prasad Bahadur (Raja of Muktyala).

Respected Sir,

I humbly submit this request with utmost respect to the Government of Telangana.

At the Andhra–Telangana State border, near Ramapuram X Road, on the NH-65 Vijayawada–Hyderabad National Highway, a new flyover is currently under construction. This location serves as a critical approach route to the Pulichintala Project and Nagarjuna Sagar Project.

In recognition of his unparalleled contribution to the water resources development of the Telugu States, I sincerely request that this flyover be named after:

Sri Raja Vasireddy Ramagopala Krishna Maheswara Prasad Bahadur (Raja of Muktyala)

widely honoured as “Projects Prasad.”

Why Raja of Muktyala Deserves This Honour

1. Architect of Nagarjuna Sagar Project

Led massive public movements across nine districts

Built a road to Nandikonda at his own expense to facilitate site inspection

Mobilised public support and ensured government approval for the project

2. Revival Force Behind the Pulichintala Project

The legendary engineer and Union Minister Dr. K. L. Rao stated:
“Raja of Muktyala led the agitation for the Pulichintala Project and suffered for championing the cause.”

3. Unmatched Donation

He donated:

₹52 lakhs

5,000 acres of land
to the project — an extraordinary gesture unmatched even today.

4. Protector of Telugu Water Rights

He was the first leader to raise awareness and fight for the Krishna River water rights as early as the 1950s.

Why This Flyover Should Bear His Name

The NH-65 Ramapuram X Road Flyover is directly located on the route leading to the Pulichintala Project.

Pulichintala and Nagarjuna Sagar — both projects exist today largely because of his efforts.

Naming the flyover here is historically appropriate and symbolically powerful for both Telugu States.

It will preserve his legacy for future generations and honour his lifelong sacrifices for water security.

Therefore, I earnestly request the Hon’ble Chief Minister to kindly consider naming the newly constructed NH-65 Ramapuram X Road Flyover as:

“Raja of Muktyala Flyover”

or

“Projects Prasad Flyover”

This will be a fitting tribute to a great leader whose contributions continue to benefit millions.
