Cancer surgery for IVC tumor is very challenging and difficult. It is a very rare cancer.Recently I got a chance to operate on this very difficult tumor which was referred from multiple hospitals in jaipur. He was told to go to Mumbai and Ahmedabad as such cancer operation is not possible in jaipur.
The surgery took 12 hours and required 11 blood transfusions.But the final result was excellent.
It is first of its kind of surgery in Rajasthan. Patient was very happy and glad that he was discharged on 8 th day without any complications.
It was challenging because the tumor was in the main vein of body and also both veins of kidney. We have to save both kidneys and the same time remove tumor . He also had blockage of blood circulation in both legs which was also corrected. His ivc was reconstructed and both kidney veins were also reconstructed.
We will keep fighting cancer with courage with the wishes of almighty.
