Can weight loss medicines affect your kidneys?

With new weight loss medicines becoming more common, many patients worry about kidney damage. Reducing weight helps control blood sugar and blood pressure, which actually supports kidney health.
Medicines like GLP-1 agonists are generally safe when taken correctly.

However, side effects such as vomiting or diarrhea can cause dehydration, which may temporarily increase creatinine levels. If this happens, consult your doctor immediately. Safe use and timely medical guidance are essential.

Winter without soup feels incomplete… but for kidney patients, every sip must be mindful.
That’s why here’s the safe & simple soup guide you can actually follow.

✔️ Choose Soups based on low-potassium vegetables
Good vegetables: Onion, garlic, leeks, cabbage, cauliflower, bell peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, parboiled carrots, or parboiled turnip are all safe choices.

A warm bowl is okay… as long as it’s the right bowl.

❄️ Winter cravings vs. kidney health… What should you really eat?
Because the moment winter arrives, everyone asks: “Ma’am, can I eat makka roti, sarso ka saag and bajra roti with butter?”

The good news? You don’t have to completely avoid your favourite winter foods. You just need the right balance and a little smart eating.

Most kidney patients say the same thing — “Doctor, humko bhookh hi nahi lagti… ghar wale roz boiled khana de dete hain.”

But here’s the truth: Kidney disease is long-term, and strict boiled food is not the solution. Our goal is to improve quality of life, not take away the joy of eating. Simple spices like jeera, onion, tomato, garlic (in moderation) can be safely used. Tomato raw nahi dena — but ek tomato poori sabzi me use karna absolutely fine hai.

Cold weather se blood vessels shrink hoti hain, aur isi wajah se BP uncontrollable hone lagta hai — aur iska pressure aapki kidneys pe padta hai.
Dr. Nisha Gaur kehte hain – “Stay warm, stay covered, aur apni body ko protect kijiye.”
Warm soups, lukewarm water aur cozy habits – yeh sirf comfort nahi, kidney care essentials hain. 💧
Apna khayal rakhiye — thand se nahi, neglect se hota hai nuksan. 💙

Think dehydration is only a summer problem? Think again!
Winter dehydration is real. We often drink less water because we feel less thirsty and replace it with endless cups of tea or coffee — which actually dehydrates us more.
So this winter, stay warm and hydrated — switch to lukewarm water, herbal teas, or healthy hot drinks. Your skin, body, and mind will thank you.

⚠️ Did you know bubbles in your urine could be the first sign of kidney trouble?

Often, your BP and creatinine may be normal, but protein in urine is an early warning signal. A simple urine protein test can help detect kidney disease early and allow timely treatment. Spreading awareness is crucial – if you or someone you know sees bubbles in urine, don’t ignore it.
Early action can save lives.
