Can exercise cause a heart attack?
On the by Media, hosted by Gitanjli Mathur, I spoke about a concern that many people have today.
More and more individuals are anxious about exercising, worried that physical activity itself might harm the heart.
But the simple truth is that exercise isn’t the problem; sudden intense exercise is.
If someone hasn’t been walking at all and decides to go to the gym one day and lift 100 kg, that sudden strain on the body can be risky.
Your body needs time to adjust.
Start with small, consistent steps:
✅ Walk 30 minutes a day
✅ Aim to cover 3 to 4 km comfortably within two months
If you still feel unusual tiredness, breathlessness, or chest discomfort, that’s the time to visit a heart specialist.
Exercise keeps the heart healthy, but only when done the right way.
Build stamina gradually and let your body adapt.
Your heart will thank you for it.
