Dr Abhishek Gupta started his medicine journey in 1998 from SP Medical College, Bikaner which is known for its academics and educational excellence. He was always a meritorious student and was awarded ‘’Honours’’ in Anatomy, Pharmacology, PSM, ENT and Paediatrics during his MBBS course. Not just in academics Dr Abhishek was an all rounder and actively participated and instrumental in conducting various sports, literally and cultural events in the institute. He was the chief editor of annual college magazine and for his all-round performance he was adjudged and conferred the “Best Outgoing Student” of Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner award in 2003.
Through all India competitive entrance examination he earned the coveted MS Orthopaedics seat at JN Medical college, Belgaum which is a premier institute of this country and amongst the very few medical college hospitals that has NAAC accreditation to it.
After completing his higher education Dr Abhishek did not stop but went on to achieve academic and super specialty excellence at Ortho One Orthopaedic Specialty center, Coimbatore under internationally eminent teacher Dr David V Rajan. He got his Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine from this institute which is accredited by ISAKOS.
Soon after he also completed his Fellowship in Shoulder and Sports Medicine from Deenanath Mangeshkar and Sancheti hospital, Pune under internationally acclaimed Indian Shoulder Surgeon Dr Ashish Babhulkar and enhanced his skills in the field of shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty/replacements.
Before joining JLN Medical College, Ajmer as Assistant Professor through RPSC in October 2014, Dr Gupta gave his services at the orthopedic city of Bhilwara, Rajasthan at Porwal hospital and Ramsnehi Hospital & research center for 4 years and making a big name in the region doing large number of arthroscopic and replacement surgeries as also thousands of trauma cases. For his notable charitable work, even in private sector, he was felicitated by Acharya Bhikshu samaadhi sthalsansthan, Siriyari and given a certificate of honour. On guidance of his father Dr H K Das Gupta who is a celebrated, State Awardee, Urologist surgeon of Rajasthan and Retd Senior Professor, he sacrificed the huge private pay rolls to join the government services to give back to the society and serve the poor and downtrodden.
Dr Abhishek Gupta is credited with starting Arthroscopy orthopaedic surgeries at JLN Hospital, Ajmer and performed the first knee ligament surgeries independently and successfully of the institute soon after he joined. Today he has the accolade of being the most versatile arthroscopic and sports medicine specialist of the region and has been performing even the most complex multiligament knee surgeries as also complex open/ arthroscopic shoulder surgeries done in selected centers of excellence/ sports medicine specialists in India.
So passionate about improvising his surgical excellence and imparting latest international expertise to his patients that in 2016 he went abroad to the Samsung International Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea, where he was accepted amongst the distinguished few Indian surgeons till date to get a Fellowship in Shoulder Arthroscopy, Total and Reverse Shoulder Replacement and Sports Medicine under the internationally renowned Guru Prof Jae Chul Yoo.
Owing to his immense capabilities and command over the subject he has been invited at various national and state level conferences as guest speaker and faculty to share his experiences and knowledge with his contemporaries and enlighten the budding orthopaedic surgeons. He is member of scientific committees of national and state conferences (including his recent position as Chairman Scientific at IASCON’2017) and workshops and gives health educational talks on AIR FM, newspapers, television and other media platforms. He also regularly conducts free health checkup camps for the benefit of public and encourages his young MBBS and Post Graduate student doctors to imbibe morality in their medicine practice.
His services have recently been acknowledged by the Rajasthan Government and was felicitated at Indian Independence Day function, 15th August ’2017 for distinguished services as Assistant Prof. Orthopedics, JLN Medical College & Hospital, Ajmer
