Endoscopic flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tendon transfer has emerged as a valuable technique in the management of chronic or irreparable Achilles tendon tears. By using a minimally invasive endoscopic approach, the procedure allows for precise identification and harvesting of the FHL tendon while preserving surrounding soft tissues. This leads to significantly reduced postoperative pain, faster wound healing, and a lower risk of complications such as infection or wound breakdown, which are more common in open procedures

Young boy with 'pain from arm to wrist'. Non specific, sent for MRI.🥴
Note an accessory abductor digiti minimi muscle belly compressing the ulnar nerve in the Guyon's canal. This is a rare cause of entrapment neuropathy and one of those cases where only the radiologist can find the cause of the non specific pain.🫰🏽😊

🌟 **Happy Children’s Day!** 🌟

Today, let’s celebrate not only the joy and energy children bring into our lives but also commit to nurturing their health, safety, and well-being during play.

**Play is Powerful, but Prevention is Key!**
Encouraging safe play helps kids grow strong, stay active, and avoid unnecessary injuries. Here are some simple ways we can support safe, healthy play:

🌱 **Preventive Play:** Teach kids about balance and coordination to boost physical awareness. This helps prevent slips, falls, and other common injuries.

🚶‍♀️ **Optimal Warm-Up:** Encourage children to stretch and warm up before play. Simple stretches and gentle movements prepare their muscles and joints for activity, reducing the risk of strains and sprains.

⛑️ **Early Treatment:** If an injury does occur, early treatment is essential. Recognizing and addressing injuries right away ensures faster recovery and helps prevent long-term issues.

Let's empower our children with the tools to play safely and confidently today and every day. 🎈

It leads to inability to actively extend the fingers.

Causes - injury / entrapment / compression

Ultrasound can be used for the diagnosis to identify the exact site and cause of nerve damage.

Penetrating injury can lead to direct injury to the nerve!

Radial nerve injury can present with wrist drop and loss of sensation in the outer part of the forearm.
Wrist drop will lead to inability to elevate your wrist.

Ultrasound of the radial nerve can help pick the exact site and cause for this, helping in appropriate decision making - medical / minimally invasive or surgical!

Reach out to us if you have any nerve related issues for accurate diagnosis and treatment!
