Sports injuries or injuries occurred during sports activities need early and targeted treatment. Most of the time it occurred because of our faulty biomechanics and early and proper correction not only help us in early healing but help prevent us from recurrent injuries.

Most of the time we are clueless about our injury management and wasted too much time in recovery. During this period our body loss muscle strength and elasticity much faster than a normal person, so it is very important to start sports activities as early as we can.

One of the most common causes for neck and low back pain has to do with our poor and stressful posture. Because the majority of conditions in neck and low back pain falls under the category of chronic repetitive overuse injuries, and a poor posture increases the load/pressure on the ligaments, joints, muscles, and tendons trying to absorb this repetitive load. In other words, poor posture will predispose and/or increases the risk of developing a repetitive overuse injury in the neck and low-back region.

The reason for this is that poor posture will lead to the development of a system of muscle imbalances and overcompensation patterns (unstable patterns) in our body. “Over the time, this imbalance will spread throughout the musculoskeletal system in a predictable manner.”

Postural syndromes are very common in western societies. Our lifestyles such as sitting behind a desk for hours on a daily basis, daily driving, prolonged use of smart phones and texting, poor diet, poor ergonomics, lack of exercise due to time constraints, and not paying attention to our slouching contribute significantly to developing postural syndromes. To decrease this phenomenon the least we can do is to be a bit more aware of our posture and learn proper ergonomics while sitting behind a desk. It only takes a small effort to make significant changes.

Things are moving really fast, with time our body is becoming vulnerable, and we are more susceptible to infective, lifestyle diseases and malignancies.

Why it is happening and are we really moving in a right direction. Since last 2-3 decades our dependency on medicines is increasing drastically but are we getting cure or just taking symptomatic treatment only. Why we are becoming so weak with time.

Lifestyle changes and dependency on electronic gadgets is making us more vulnerable to many diseases, above all our understanding of the disease process is decreasing with time. Instead to biomechanical correction we are going for surgical interventions, instead of cure we are looking for symptomatic relief. That shows our weakness, out reduced tolerance and lack of understanding of the disease.

Each specialty teaches us how to treat a disease and what the proper approach, but we are now straightaway touching the extreme, instead of using stepladder.

Posture and Faulty biomechanics are two of the most common but neglected factors, responsible as an initial trigger for most of the lifestyle and other diseases. But, because of our faulty understanding we are showing more faith in medicines. It's better to wake up now and start improving our biomechanics and posture.

Few of the symptoms because of acute or chronic trapezius tightness are:

1. Poor postural alignment and shoulder position
2. Upper back pain that radiates or worsens with movement
3. Lower back fatigue and reduced stability
4. Lack of arm and shoulder mobility and strength
5. Soreness, stiffness, and spasms of the trapezius muscle
6. Tingling or numbness in the arms
7. Posterior headaches
8. Myalgia or muscle pain

In simple words, trapezius tightness is responsible for most of the postural pains and neurological symptoms not only around neck but also in the upper & lower back.

Don't blame your spine for every pain, instead most of the pains are secondary to musculoskeletal problems in your body. Wrong posture is one of the major triggers for musculoskeletal pain.

1. Never ignore your posture and maintain a healthy and flexible posture
2. Regular physical activity is a must for cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal and Endocrine health

Long duration standing and walking on hard surface generally cause over-pronation at the ankle joints.

This over-pronation at the ankle joints pushes our knee joints into varus stress and to compensate varus stress at the knee our adductor goes into compensatory tightness.

In simple term knee joints are secondarily affected due to compensatory mechanisms at our hip and ankle. Even 10–15-degree restriction of movement at our hip can increase medial compartmental pressure and make us vulnerable to osteoarthritis knee and other musculoskeletal issues around the knees.

Controlling this biomechanism aberration can give us better results instead of going for surgical options. Things are easy to correct with a correct approach. This is just the beginning; If we ignore the importance of healthy biomechanics, with time we will pay the price for our mistakes.

Maintaining a fine balance between the two divisions of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is very important for healthy living.

Flatfoot, or pes planus, is a condition that causes collapse of the arch during weight bearing. This flattening put stress on the plantar fascia and the bones of the foot, resulting in pain and further breakdown.

Overpronation can lead to injuries and pain in the foot, ankle, knee, or hip. Overpronation puts extra stress on all the bones in the feet.

The repeated stress on the knees, shins, thighs, and pelvis puts additional stress on the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the lower leg. This can put the knee, hip, and back out of alignment, and it can become very painful.

Along with overpronation, adductor muscle tightness can put more stress on our medial compartment of our knee joints and make us vulnerable to medial compartment collapse of the knee joint and rapid progression of osteoarthritis knee joint.

We think we are perfect but on daily basis we are committing mistakes that are making us vulnerable to many Lifestyle issues/diseases. Instead of just managing symptoms, management of the cause should be our first priority.
