Cervical Spondylosis
*Chronic degeneration of the bones(vertebrae) of the neck(cervical spine) and the cushions between the vertebrae(disc).
*Also known as arthritis of the neck, cervical osteoarthritis.
*most common in person over 30 (male >female).

*With certain precipitating factors:
- Trauma
- incorrect posture of the body
- pressure while sleeping.

*Causes
-Inflammation: it occurs in the superficial layers of the posterior longitudinal ligament which leads to chronic hyperplasia resulting in narrowing of the intervertebral canals.
*Ischemia:increase in the intramuscular pressure constricts the blood vessels, stops the internal circulation and there by stagnation of the waste products results in ischemic pain.
*Ligamentous and capsular instability: after injury the process of repair is extremely slow due to the precarious blood supply to the ligaments .The repair may occur by the formation of scar tissue, with reduced tensile and elastic properties, resulting in stiffness.
*Haemorrhage : Acute traumatic bleeding can also leads to narrowing and compression of the nerve roots.
*Degenerative changes : These are common in the areas of maximum stress(C4-C6).
This leads to joint pain and limitation of movements. Osteophytes may be formed at these sites.
*Bad postural habits : sustained, bad occupational posture or habitual wrong posture of the neck in relation to the thoracic spine and shoulder joints results in stretching of the soft tissues on one side and elongation.

AVN (avascular necrosis) another word we can say it osteonecrosis, in which death of bone tissue due to lack of blood supply. Avascular necrosis also lead to tiny breaks in the bone and it may cause the bone to collapse.
A dislocated joint or broken bone can stop the blood flow to a section of bone. AVN is associated with long term use of high dose of steroid medicines and too much alcoholic substance. this process usually takes months to year and anyone can be affected.
In the AVN condition worsens, affected joints might hurt when putting weight on them. Eventually people might feel the pain even when they are lying down on the bed.
Some people develop AVN on both side of hip and knee joints. pain can be mild or severe . it usually increase gradually or sudden. pain lead with AVN of the hip center on the groin, tight buttock. besides the hip, and other part of the joint like shoulder , knee, hand and foot cant be affected.

*When to see a doctor.
1. When your pain is ongoing.
2.Seek immediate medicine attention for a possible bone or dislocated joint.

*Prevention
