Navratri fasting is a beautiful tradition that helps cleanse the body and mind, but itโ€™s important to approach it mindfully so your fast nourishes rather than drains you. ๐ŸŒฟ

Here are some general nutrition guidelines to follow:

1๏ธโƒฃ Include Protein in Every Meal
Many fasting foods are rich in carbs but low in protein. Protein is essential to prevent fatigue, maintain muscle, and control cravings.
โœ… Options: curd, buttermilk, paneer (if included), roasted makhana, nuts & seeds (almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, chia).

2๏ธโƒฃ Choose Healthy Carbohydrates
Instead of overloading on fried or sugary foods, opt for fasting-friendly whole foods that give sustained energy.
โœ… Options: samak rice (barnyard millet), kuttu atta (buckwheat flour), singhara atta (water chestnut flour), sweet potatoes, fruits.

3๏ธโƒฃ Stay Hydrated
Even mild dehydration can cause fatigue or headaches during fasting. Include water, coconut water, herbal teas, or buttermilk throughout the day.

4๏ธโƒฃ Avoid Overeating โ€˜Fast-Approvedโ€™ Foods
Itโ€™s easy to go overboard with potatoes, sabudana, or sweets. Overeating can spike blood sugar and cause bloating. Portion control is key.

5๏ธโƒฃ Limit Deep-Fried & Sugary Foods
Traditional pakoras, fried snacks, and halwa may taste festive but can overload your digestive system and reduce the benefits of fasting.
