Excessive hair on face in female.
Excessive hair in females with adult male pattern distribution is call Hirsutism .In this females get coarse dark hair above the lip and on the chin, face, chest, abdomen, and back. This excess hair growth is caused by an increased level of male hormones. The most common cause of the excessive male hormones in females is polycystic ovaries .The females having polycystic ovaries have chronic amenorrhea or no me**es. In few females levels of male hormones are normal and no cause of excessive hair is detected. Few females may get excessive hair growth on the face and other part of the body after certain age when me**es stop. Obese females also have excessive hair on the face, chest, abdomen and other part of the body due the insulin résistance. Inadequate take of certain vitamins in diet also contribute to the excessive growth of hair in females. Most of the hirsutism females have acne, loss of scalp hair, dandruff, and hyper pigmentation and thickened skin. The hormone that causes excessive hair on the face and other part of the body in female has opposite effect on the scalp hair. It is called paradoxical effect means same hormone causes loss of the scalp hair.
Treatment of excessive hair is, drugs , laser hair removal and life style modification.
