The lazy tortoise
Recently, I got this question from a self-confessed lazy tortoise :
“I want to get in shape, but I’m lazy. I start out with the intention of working out 5 times a week. By the second or third week, I’ve usually given up. I just can’t be bothered. Do you have any advice for someone like me who is lazy?”
Life is what you make of it. Being lazy isn’t necessarily an obstacle to getting in shape. Its about understanding yourself and working your way out through what works for you.
You just need to be honest with yourself.
If you’ve tried and failed on multiple occasions to get to the gym five times a week, aim for twice a week instead.
As long as you work hard and push yourself while you’re in the gym, you can still get decent results lifting weights twice a week.
I think laziness can be a virtue.
If you have to get something done, and you're lazy, you'll start looking for a better way to do it.
A way that requires less time and effort.
A way that is faster... easier.
In fact, Bill Gates once said that he would always "hire a lazy person to do a difficult job" at Microsoft.
Why?
"Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it."
That's what you need to do. Acceptance of a flaw gives you the opportunity to turn it around into a virtue. It can help you understand yourself better & make you able to find ways that work best for you. Think out of box, think different & you will be able to achieve your health goals more efficiently (even better than the sweat drenched 7 times a week work out guys)
It will still require hard work and effort from you.
But if you also have the ability to procrastinate, and can put off being lazy for just a couple of hours a week, you’ll do just fine.
Cheers!
