Sharing a few highlights from a fulfilling weekend at the annual conference of the Maharashtra State Neurosurgical Society. It was a wonderful opportunity to interact with esteemed friends and colleagues from both India and abroad.
During the event, I had the privilege of delivering a talk on "Work-Life Balance and the Role of Yogic Practices for Neurosurgeons," where we explored sustainable ways to manage the demands of our profession. Additionally, I moderated a panel discussion on "Ethics in Neurosurgical Practice" on the second day, which sparked some truly insightful dialogue.
It was an enriching experience both professionally and personally.

Dr. Mahesh Karandikar Inspires Over 1,000 Youth at the inauguration of 'Dyanotsav' in Mumbai : The Omkar Educational Foundation marked a significant milestone today with the grand inauguration of 'Dyanotsav', featuring a powerful keynote address by the distinguished Neurosurgeon Dr. Mahesh Karandikar. Centered on the theme "From Ethics to Victory – Building the Youth," the event drew a massive gathering of over a thousand students and parents.
In an era of rapid digital transformation, Dr. Karandikar delivered a comprehensive roadmap for personal and professional excellence. His discourse seamlessly bridged traditional values with modern success strategies, emphasizing the critical roles of effective time management, soft skills development, and financial awareness. He further addressed contemporary challenges by advocating for screen de-addiction and the cultivation of lateral thinking to navigate future career landscapes.
A unique highlight of the session was Dr. Karandikar’s exploration of the neuroscientific basis of ethics. He provided profound insights into how neurotransmitters and neuroelectrophysiology influence behavioral modifications, offering a scientific temperament to the practice of values and morals. The session also integrated holistic practices for inner growth, including mindfulness, visualization techniques, yoga, and meditation.
The presentation concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students interacted directly with Dr. Karandikar to seek guidance on leadership development and relationship management.
The success of this grand initiative was driven by the dedicated leadership of Mrs. Darshana Sawant, Managing Trustee, Mrs. Vijayalaxmi Shetty, Principal, Mrs. Sai Bane, Coordinator and
Mr. Sandeep Sawant, Supervisor.
For over four decades, the Omkar Educational Trust has remained a cornerstone of academic excellence in Mumbai, educating thousands of students across diverse streams. Today’s program reaffirms the Trust's commitment to not only academic proficiency but the holistic character-building of the next generation.
