Many people experience bloating not just due to food, but due to emotional stress, suppressed emotions, unresolved trauma, or anxiety—all of which can directly impact gut function via the gut-brain axis.
How Emotional Causes Lead to Bloating
1. Stress activates the sympathetic nervous system, impairing digestion and increasing gas or bloating.
2. Repressed emotions (like anger, sadness, fear) can manifest physically, especially in the gut—commonly called the “second brain.”
3. Negative self-talk or body shame can lead to chronic tension in the abdominal area.
4. Anxiety around eating or social pressure can create digestive upset, even with safe foods.
How you will release your emotion.
✅ Step 1: Identify the Emotion
• What emotion feels linked to your bloating? (e.g., “shame,” “anxiety,” “I feel not good enough”)
✅ Step 2: Setup Statement (tap the side of your hand)
“Even though I feel bloated and I think it’s connected to [emotion], I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
✅ Step 3: Tapping Points
Tap each point while saying a short phrase (change wording to match your truth):
• Eyebrow: This tight, bloated feeling
• Side of Eye: It feels heavy in my belly
• Under Eye: Maybe it’s not just food—maybe it’s emotions
• Under Nose: I feel pressure in my stomach
• Chin: I’ve been holding in a lot
• Collarbone: I wonder what my body is trying to say
• Under Arm: I give myself permission to feel and release this
• Top of Head: I allow my body to relax and let go
Repeat 2–3 rounds, checking in with your body after each.
