The first CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) catheter insertion at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) marked a significant milestone in the hospital's nephrology care. This procedure, vital for patients with end-stage renal disease, demonstrated the hospital's growing capabilities in providing advanced renal care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel to distant centers for such essential treatments. The successful implementation of CAPD at JMCH is expected to enhance patient outcomes and improve the quality of life for those suffering from chronic kidney disease in the region.

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to chair the recent session on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) with a focus on Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) at the ISN East Zone conference 2024 kolkata.
The depth and quality of the presentations, along with the engaging discussions that followed, underscored the vital role that genetic research plays in advancing our understanding and treatment of CKD.
