AL Haramain English School🏛, Calicut stood away from the hurry-burry city in a sleepy backyard village called Edakkad, almost hidden behind lots of trees inside a bylane. It was by accident I came to know about the school and when I visited, I was ushered to a young dynamic Vice Principal by name Ms Babitha Sasidharan. Soon, I realized that it is a school that valued not just dissemination of knowledge but the holistic development of students. Later, I would meet Dr. Sahil Hassan, the Principal of the school, a scholar who has a string of Degrees with an enlightened mind and spirit. We spoke and spoke….. and spoke, and by the time I left, I knew that the school was in the right hands of these two individuals. There were a little over 100 students from the standard 8, and they were very participatory. I was welcomed warmly, and before we started the lecture, they presented a prayer in Arabic. In the end, we distributed TAD booklets, and I was presented with three fine books written by Dr. Sahil as a gift. The school has over 1000 students and has a rich legacy. AL Haramin is an Arabic expression meaning, “The sanctuary” indicating the two holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Arabia. I have handed over the DFW docket to Dr Sahil and offered all support if they want to create more awareness inside and outside the school through students. have you commented VOLUNTEER
