About 4280/100,000 citizens are succumbed to Sudden Cardiac Arrest every year, amounting to 112 people per minute in India. Less than 2% of the population are aware of CPR in India as per the survey conducted in 2016 by Lybrat. The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) has taken it as a challenge to decrease these preventable deaths by creating awareness in CPR and training every citizen a li
fesaver in the year 2017. The Indian Resuscitation Council (IRC) was initiated describing Indian guidelines as the issues and problems are different from the western world like lack of proper emergency medical system, lack of awareness of CPR, Lack of community AED, Ambulances not equipped with AED, superstitions, customs, different religions, languages. We have plans to create awareness, create training by Comprehensive Resuscitation Training Centers (CRTC) in every Medical College and every district. We have also approached ILCOR for a membership, who advised us to form a Federation of IRCF involving all the specialties who are regularly involved in resuscitation. We got the support of Dr Vinay Nadkarni Ex Chair of ILCOR and AHA, Bernd Bottiger, the Chairman of German resuscitation Council and Treasurer of European Resuscitation Council, Dr Andrew Lokey Chairman of Resuscitation Council of UK and others. We have been participating in the World Restart A Heart Day on 16th October every year since 2018 where we have shown high figures of training in CPR. This year we have promised them that we trained one million Life saver and we trained 9,30, 232 for Compression only Life support, 80,000 for foundation course of medical students, and created awareness on Doordarshan TV, social media network for about 30,00,00,000 people far and wide of Republic India. The Indian Academy of Paediatrics, and National Neonatology forum has joined with IRC and we made it IRCF registered section 8 of companies act 2013 as a non-profitable organization. We have corporate identity number of the company, PAN, TAN, Concessions of IT 80G and 12A, registered as NGO of NITI Aayog, registered with Darpan also. Meanwhile we approached the Directorate of CBSE and got our IRCF CPR program included in the curriculum at the 9th standard level. The Director General of Health Services has welcomed us and started CRTCs in the CGHS Hospitals, NMC has introduced CPR in the 1st year MBBS as a foundation course. Dr NTRUHS, the AP Medical University has endorsed the IRCF and made it mandatory to have certified BCLS training to obtain the MBBS certificate. IRCF is very cost effective and we trust in AATMA- NIRBHAR BHARAT. This year let us celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by training two million lifesavers.
