Most parents assume a smelly mouth means a gastric issue or indigestion. In reality, 90 percent of bad breath in children originates in the mouth and throat, not the gut. If you are ignoring the tongue and the nose, you are missing the real culprit. First, implement the 2x2 rule by brushing for two minutes twice a day. Second, use a gentle tongue scraper every morning to remove bacterial buildup. Third, ensure your child stays hydrated because saliva is the mouth's natural cleaning agent. Finally, check for mouth breathing. If your child snores or breathes through their mouth at night, the lack of saliva creates an environment where odors thrive. Avoid using adult mouthwashes as the alcohol content dries the mouth further and creates a dependency that masks underlying infections.
Is your child a morning mouth breather? Let me know in the comments and I will tell you what to check next.

Is your child always tired, catching frequent colds, or struggling to focus in school? The problem might not be laziness. It could be low Iron Power.
You can easily boost your child's hemoglobin.
Load up on green leafy vegetables like Palak, Methi, and Moringa.
Add iron-rich red foods like apples, pomegranate, beetroot, and eggs or meat if you eat non-vegetarian food. Jaggery and roasted chana make the perfect high-iron snack.
Iron needs Vitamin C to enter the body. Always squeeze a yellow lemon on iron-rich foods like poha, dal, or salads to unlock maximum absorption.
Also, strictly avoid giving tea or coffee to young children, as it blocks iron absorption entirely.

Are you using antibiotics regularly?
Every time we reach for Azithral or other antibiotics for a simple viral cough or cold, we aren’t helping our kids—we’re helping the germs. When we use these powerful medicines unnecessarily, bacteria learn how to "shield" themselves, turning into Superbugs that common medicines can no longer kill.
Antibiotics DO NOT
Using them "just in case" weakens your child’s immunity.
Overuse today means the medicine might not work when they actually need it for a serious infection.
Let’s stop the "Pharmacy-first" habit. A fever is a sign to investigate, not an automatic reason to medicate with antibiotics.
Don’t gamble with your child’s future immunity. Get a proper diagnosis before starting any course of medicine.

Is your baby's weight normal?
One of the most common questions I get at Gheeth Kids Clinic is: "Doctor, is my baby’s weight gain normal?"
In the first 3 months, babies can gain up to 30 grams a day. That’s a lot of growing in a very short time! By the time they hit 5 months, most babies have actually doubled their birth weight.
But remember: every baby is unique. We look at the "Growth Curve," not just a single number on the scale.
Let’s check your little one's progress!
1️⃣ Drop your baby’s Date of Birth
2️⃣ Share their Current Weight
I’ll be replying to as many as possible to let you know if they are on the right track!

When a baby touches their private parts, they aren’t being "naughty"—they are being scientists! 🔬 Here is the breakdown:
✅ It’s a normal developmental milestone.
✅ It’s usually driven by simple curiosity.
✅ Shaming can create unnecessary anxiety later on.
When it’s NOT just exploration:
Itching: Could be pinworms or a yeast infection.
Painful Urination: A potential UTI.
Bleeding: Seek medical advice immediately.
Extreme Frequency: If it interferes with daily activities.
Pro-Tip: If you notice your baby is touching the area frequently during diaper changes, check for a diaper rash first! Sometimes "exploration" is actually "scratching an itch."

It’s tempting to surround our little ones with cute toys and soft blankets, but when it comes to sleep, less is more. For newborns,
❌ No stuffed animals
❌ No pillows
❌ No loose blankets
Let’s prioritize safe sleep!

As a pediatrician, I'm here to set the record straight: Curd does NOT cause colds.

Viruses cause colds: Not curd! Colds are upper respiratory infections.

Curd is rich in "good bacteria" that support gut health and immunity.

It's a great source of Calcium and Protein for growing bones.

Tips for Parents:

Room Temp is Best: If you're worried, just take the curd out of the fridge 30 mins before serving! It's one of the best first foods for your little one.

Save this for the next time someone tells you to stop giving curd!

"Dr., my ni***es are flat... will I ever be able to breastfeed?" The answer is a resounding YES.
Remember: Babies breastfeed, they don't ni**le-feed. The goal is for your little one to take a large mouthful of breast tissue, not just the tip!
Tips for Success:
1.Nipple Shieldsq provide a firm shape for the baby to latch onto while your ni**le gradually draws out.
2. Breast pump for just 1-2 minutes before feeding can help "draw out" the ni**le, making it easier for baby to grab.
If you’re experiencing pain or your baby isn't gaining weight, come see us at Gheeth Kids Clinic. We’re here to support your journey, no matter how it looks.
You’ve got this, Mama! 🫶

Doctors are more visible on Insta now.
Patients are asking more questions.
And honestly… that’s a good thing.
For years, health advice online was driven by influencers with no medical training — telling you what to eat, what supplements to buy, what treatment to avoid.
Now, qualified doctors are stepping into that space.
When a Doctor posts a reel, it’s not for “ratings.”
It’s to make science understandable.
To prevent misinformation.
To reach parents before panic sets in.
Instead of asking, “Why is this doctor making reels?”
Maybe the better question is:
“Why aren’t more doctors here explaining things?”
Because when medical advice comes from trained professionals, everyone wins.
Information is powerful.
Accurate information is life-saving
