Hrithik Roshan - Vision Therapy - Reversed Myopia 👁️✨

Speaker:
Dr. L. Vishnu
Mental Health Occupational Therapist

The Age Myth: Even at 50, Hrithik Roshan challenged the idea that vision cannot be improved, despite initial skepticism from doctors. 🩺

The USA Experience: Hrithik underwent 5 days of intense vision therapy in the US to address his distance vision. 🇺🇸

The 20-20-20 Rule: A core part of the training involved the famous 20-20-20 exercise (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds). ⏳

The Science of Ciliary Muscles: Myopia often occurs when the ciliary muscles in the eye become weak. Vision therapy acts like a "gym" for your eyes, strengthening these muscles. 💪

Real-World Results: This isn't just a theory; Hrithik shared his successful journey toward reversing myopia on his own Instagram page. 📱

Early Prevention: If it is possible to fix vision at 50, starting therapy earlier can help many people live a life free from glasses. 👓🚫

Your eyes are controlled by muscles, and like any other muscle in your body, they can be trained and strengthened. By adopting Vision Therapy and proactive eye care, you can prevent long-term vision issues and maintain clarity for years to come!

Start your vision journey today with US! 🌈🙏

What we say to children matters especially for children with ADHD.
-
Phrases like “just sit still” or “stop being lazy” may seem small,
but they can increase frustration, shame, and self-doubt.

ADHD is not a lack of effort - it’s a difference in how the brain manages attention and control.

When we shift our words from criticism to support,
we help children feel understood - and that’s where real progress begins. 💛

Put Down the Phone, Pick Up a Memory: The Magic of One Hour 🏠❤️

Speaker:
Dr. L. Vishnu
Mental Health Occupational Therapist

We’ve all been there. You walk through the door after a long, exhausting day at work. All you want is a cup of tea, a quiet moment, and more often than not to scroll through your phone to "unwind." 📱☕

But while we are "disconnecting" from work, we are often accidentally disconnecting from the people who missed us the most.

The "After-Nap" Energy 🏃‍♂️💨
Your child has just woken up from their nap, and they are bursting with energy! They want to jump, climb, run, and yes maybe even push the TV or throw the remote. While it might feel like chaos, these are the beautiful, loud signs of a healthy, growing child.

Why Physical Presence Matters
When we put the phone aside and physically engage with them during this time, something incredible happens:

True Connection: You start to understand what they are feeling.

Mutual Understanding: They begin to sense your emotions and bond with you on a deeper level.

Building Trust: It shows them they are more important than any notification.

The 1-Hour Challenge ⏳
Let’s stop passing the responsibility back and forth. Instead of "You take the child, I’m tired," let’s designate one hour as dedicated Family Time. No phones, no distractions just play.

Your child doesn’t need a perfect parent; they just need a present one. Let’s start playing today! 🧩✨

The Tantrum Truth: Why It Happens & How to Handle It 🧒🏻

Speaker:
Dr. L. Vishnu
Mental Health Occupational Therapist

🛒 You’re out for a peaceful shopping trip, and suddenly, your little one is on the floor, crying and refusing to move because they want that one toy. Or perhaps at home, toys are flying across the room the moment things don’t go their way.

It’s called a tantrum, and while it feels like a battle, it’s actually a cry for communication.

The Root of the Stress

Often, the stress we feel as parents starts long before the tantrum. We spend years dreaming of who our child will be what they’ll look like, what they’ll study, how they’ll succeed. But when reality hits and the "difficult" phases begin, that dream can feel like it’s slipping away, leading to frustration and burnout.

The Solution? It Starts with You.

Patience & Understanding: Before reacting, ask yourself: Why is my child crying? Is it the environment? Is it a specific need? Understanding the "why" is the first step toward a solution.

Clear Communication: Teach them the importance of things. It won't happen overnight, but consistent explanation helps them process boundaries.

The Balance of Rewards & Consequences: Just like we work harder for an increment at our jobs, children respond to positive reinforcement. Celebrate "adaptive behavior" with rewards, and use small, meaningful consequences for "maladaptive behavior."

Remember, the goal isn't to punish; it's to help them understand and grow. You aren’t alone in this let’s navigate the highs and lows of parenting together! 💙

From Distraction to Discovery: Reimagining Screens as Learning Tools📲

Speaker:
Dr. L. Vishnu
Mental Health Occupational Therapist

We are living in a world of Artificial Intelligence and constant connectivity, but how do we prevent these gadgets from causing a "cognitive deficit" in our children?

The Shift from "Time Out" to "Time In"
Instead of using tech as a purely restrictive battleground, I suggest a shift in perspective. When we focus on "Time In" rather than "Time Out," we stop treating the screen as an enemy and start treating it as a tool. If your child is going to be on a device, don't leave them isolated for hours. Instead, become a Co-Player.

Practical Steps for Modern Parents:

Modeling the Norm: Children normalize what they see. If the TV is on from 7 PM to 11 PM for serials while we tell them to do homework, we create a double standard.

Intentional Content: Use gadgets for puzzles, coloring, or moral stories. Show them that tech has a purpose beyond passive consumption.

The 15-Minute Rule: When you engage with them as a co-player, you’ll find it’s much easier to turn the device off after 15-20 minutes without a struggle.

The Bigger Picture
Excessive, unguided screen time can lead to attention difficulties and a lack of independent thinking. By being present and teaching your child how to interact with technology responsibly, you aren't just managing their time-you're protecting their development.

The AAA technique : Why Your Child Mirrors Your Every Move 👧🏻🧒🏻

Speaker:
Dr. L. Vishnu
Mental Health Occupational Therapist

We often spend hours telling children how to behave, but we forget that while we are busy teaching, they are busy watching. Children are mirrors; they don’t just learn from our words-they absorb our habits and values through observation. If we want to raise an empathetic, accountable generation, we must stop lecturing and start modeling.

The Power of Modeling:
It’s easy to tell a child to put down their phone, but that instruction falls flat if they constantly see us scrolling. During my recent talk, I noticed parents on their phones while I discussed the importance of engagement. This disconnect is exactly what children see. They observe how we treat others, how we handle distractions, and how we react when things go wrong. Our lifestyle is their primary textbook.

The "AAA" Technique
When we make mistakes, we have a golden opportunity to teach accountability using the AAA Technique:

Accept: Acknowledge the mistake without excuses. "I realize I wasn't listening when you were talking."

Apologize: Offer a sincere apology. "I’m sorry I didn’t give you my full attention; that was disrespectful."

Action: Propose a fix. "I’m putting my phone away now so we can focus on each other."

The Ripple Effect
By practicing this, you provide a blueprint for your child’s future relationships. You show them that being a leader or a parent isn't about being perfect-it's about being responsible.

The most effective parenting strategy isn't a lecture; it's a lifestyle. Are you being the person you want your child to become? Let’s commit to being the role models they deserve.

Mental Health: Medicine or Counseling? What You REALLY Need to Know!

Speaker:
1.Dr. Nivedhitha Selvakumar
Child Pyschiatrist

2.Dr. L. Vishnu
Mental Health Occupational Therapist

Not every mental health issue needs medication-and that’s something many people don’t realize!

In today’s fast-paced world, mental health concerns are increasing. But the big question is:
Do all mental health problems require medicine?
Or can counseling alone help?

Let’s break it down

Mental health issues are broadly of two types:

Severe Mental Illness
Conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder fall into this category.
In such cases, medication plays a crucial role and is often necessary for stability and recovery.

Mild to Moderate Conditions
Issues like stress and mild depression are very common today.
Here, medication is usually NOT the first option.

Instead, what helps?
Psychological interventions
Therapy & counseling
Lifestyle changes (sleep, exercise, routine)

These approaches can make a huge difference and support long-term well-being

The key takeaway?
Every individual is different, and so is their mental health journey. The right approach depends on the type and severity of the condition.

Don’t self-diagnose or self-medicate. Always seek guidance from a qualified professional.

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.

ADHD is often misunderstood as just “hyperactivity.”

But many children with ADHD don’t look hyper at all.
They may be quiet, distracted, forgetful, or constantly lost in their thoughts.

ADHD affects attention, impulse control, and how the brain processes information — not just energy levels.

When we understand this,
we stop labeling children… and start supporting them better. 💛

Redirect your child towards good behaviour 🔀

Is your child scribbling on the walls? 🏠🖍️ Before you say “don’t do that,” try REDIRECTION!
Stop fighting the "wall art" and start building skills! 🏠🖍️

When a child scribbles on the wall, they aren't being "naughty"-they are practicing essential developmental milestones! Instead of stopping the activity, simply change the canvas. 🔄

Why Scribbling Matters:
✨ Fine Motor Skills: Strengthens the tiny muscles in the hands.
✨ Visual-Motor Coordination: Builds the "eye-hand" connection needed for sports and daily tasks.
✨ The Path to Handwriting: Direct handwriting practice is much harder without the coordination gained from free scribbling! ✍️

By providing a dedicated sticker board or paper, you respect your child's need to create while teaching them boundaries. 🌟
Let’s encourage their cognitive growth one scribble at a time! 🎨
