Village Library and Information Center, Dighri Panchayat, Katihar, Bihar, India. (Grameen Pustakalaya evam suchna kendra)
Vision: To create a platform to connect the villagers with the relevant information from various fields, to help them do what they do better, to bring them awareness to various new opportunities for their Development & Growth. For the welfare of the villagers, A library is opened in Dighri Panchayat for the villagers to have easy access to various types of relevant information. Following facilities are available to villagers for free:
- Hindi Newspaper -2
- English Newspaper -1
- Dictionary - English to English, English to Hindi, Hindi to English
- Employment News
- Information on all the forms and vacancies available for different competitions
- Books for competitions such as Banking, Railways, SSC, Engineering, Medical, ITI, Navodaya, Netarhat, Sainik School etc.
- Weekly/Bi-Weekly/Monthly/Seasonal magazines related to different competitions
- Books and Magazines related to Technical Skill such Computer, Mobile etc.
- Books and Magazines related to Agriculture/Farming
- Books and Magazines related to Small scale industry for both Men and Women such as Poultry Farm, Dairy Farm, Gardening and others
- Literacy related books
- Books and Magazines related to Health & Wellness
- Holy Books such as Ramayan, Mahabharat, Quaran etc. The categories of books/magazines were hand-picked to meet the needs of the villagers. We made sure that the library has something for each one of the villagers. The library was inaugurated on July 1, 2012 by "Block Development Officer" of Korha Block in the presence of more than 100 villagers. Major newspapers such as "Hindustan", "Aaj", "Dainik Jagaran" & "Prabhat Khabar" have published articles (in Hindi) regarding this to further create the awareness. A librarian and a supervisor is deputed in the village library. Comping up Next - Library will be equipped with computer & internet connectivity, which will link the villagers to the enormous Information and various facilites available on internet. Expanding it to other Villages.
