Description of our village:-
The name of our village is Madhuragand Khamar in the District of Kendrapara of Odisha, and is situated on the bank of famous river Mahanadi which flows down at a distance of one mile to the west from our village. There is a National highway (NH-5) on the east of the village, which is the main source of transport and communication for many other villages. Our village is
diversified by caste and is united by peoples. The main occupation of the village is agriculture which constitutes cultivation of rice, Dal, Groundnuts & Sunflowers. Some of them are also traders and some hold service under the private companies and few are in government services. Some of them hold high officers under the Government and private sector. There are Engineers, Charted Accountant, lawyers, doctors, professors and merchants,many of them live in towns and metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, and Bhubaneswar They come to the native only during the festival of our village (Dola Purnima). Moreover there are also some people who have been working outside of India in countries like USA, Japan, Bangladesh, Srilanka & African countries. Art & Culture:-
We are celebrating different kind of festival in different way. But the Stipulated festival is Dola Prunima.It is basically celebrate in the month of March ever year. In this occasion the villagers are worship to Lord Krishna as well as Cow (Go- Mata). This festival is celebrating for two days. Villagers are wearing new clothes and making different kinds of dishes and hug each other. This festival creates love and affection among the people. The main food of village is Rice and Daal with vegetables. The Sea food is second choice by villagers. School, Library, etc:-
There is one Govt. English Medium School in the village. For Higher studies students go to nearby cities like Marshaghai,Tirtol and Kendrapara. Village market, Hospital etc:-
The village is not yet having any market place, but villager’s use to go to nearby villages. Charitable dispensary is been available in the nearby village named as Tikhir,
Climate
The climate of the village is Humidity but is excellent. The flow of pure& Fresh Air can be experienced. Floods affect the Village in every rainy season. Development
The villagers with the help of the Block Development Officer are trying their best to improve the condition of infrastructure & facilitate a good structured village.
