Every newborn undergoes a head-to-toe examination after birth, and it is done by a pediatrician. Every pediatrician should look out for the presence of hypospadias and refer them to a pediatric urologist within the first 3 months of life so that surgery can be planned at the right age.

Every case of hypospadias is different hence choosing the right kind of repair is the key element in a hypospadias surgery. Redo cases are difficult to manage as compared to primary cases. Certain special precautions need to be taken for redo cases to prevent recurrent complications and this is where the dedication and expertise in hypospadias comes into play. G***s approximation Procedure (GAP) is a type of one stage urethroplasty for coronal hypospadias. The ideal candidate for this repair will be the ones with wide meatus and deep glanular groove. With proper case selection this repair has excellent cosmetic result with minimal complications. Here is a case of a child with coronal hypospadias who underwent GAP repair with no complications.

A 7-month boy was brought with complaints of passing urine from the underside of p***s and incomplete fo****in. On clinical examination the meatus was at the corona with a deep g***s groove and no obvious chordee. He was planned for a single stage hypospadias repair surgery.

Staged repair using byar's flap is an excellent choice of repair for children with moderate to severe hypospadias. But can this Byar's flap repair be used even in failed cases? the answer is yes. Children with residual prepuce are candidates for such repair with results equivalent to the primary cases. Here we present to you a case of a child with multiple failed surgeries in whom we were able to successfully repair the hypospadias by redo byar's flap uerthroplasty.

JM, a 9-year child was born with ambiguous genitalia and bilateral non palpable go**ds. Due to limited resources in Nairobi, Kenya the child could not be evaluated in detail. Hence, was registered as a female and raised as one.

Chordee is the most important factor which decides the type of repair in hypospadias. Severe hypospadias is usually associated with severe chordee hence they are ideal candidates for staged repair. Here is a case of a child with proximal pe**le hypospadias with severe chordee who underwent staged repair i.e. Thiersch duplay urethroplasty.

Proximal hypospadias is a type of hypospadias where the urethral meatus is located in the proximal pe**le region. These are usually associated with severe chordee hence staged repair is ideal in these cases. Failed hypospadias is difficult to treat compared to primary hypospadias. Prepuce is usually used up in majority of hypospadias repairs. When prepuce is intact, pliable and has good vascularity, redo byar's repair is a good option in treating hypospadias Here is a case of a child from Nairobi who presented to hypospadias foundation following failed stage 1 repair but fortunately the prepuce was intact and redo byar's was done in this case.

We are happy to announce that we have successfully completed 13 years of Hypospadias Foundation. Since 2008 more than 2500 kids and adults have benefitted from care at hypospadias Foundation.
