Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is a condition that affects women’s hormone levels. Normally, women produce small amounts of male hormones called androgens, but in PCOS, the body makes more of these than usual. This can cause problems with the ovaries.

In women with PCOS, the ovaries might develop many small, fluid-filled sacs (cysts). Instead of releasing eggs regularly, the ovaries might not release them at all, making it harder to get pregnant.

PCOS can also cause weight gain. Managing weight through a healthy diet and regular exercise can help improve symptoms. Fortunately, there are treatments available, and doctors can help find the best one based on your specific needs.

The Journey So Far...

Dr. Kishore Nadkarni (Surgeon) and Dr. Purnima Nadkarni (Obst-Gynec) both Gold medalists from Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai decided to leave the lure of city life and go to a rural place to start their career. After working for 3 years in a local Trust Hospital in Killa-Pardi – a Taluka place in Valsad District of South Gujarat, they set up their First hospital – “Nadkarni Hospital” at Killa Pardi in 1984. This was a maternity and surgical hospital which catered to the needs of rural South Gujarat. The development of infertility practice took place over the next 10 years, the doctors went overseas to U.K, USA, Germany and Australia to acquire skills and the “Test Tube Baby Centre (IVF-ICSI) was inaugurated in 1995 at Killa Pardi. In the next 10 years more than 1000 babies were born from this centre by IVF & ICSI techniques.

In the year 2000 – “21st Century hospital Pvt. Ltd.” was established in Vapi – It was a millennium dream institute which gave all multispeciality services to the people of South Gujarat / Daman and Silvassa.

“Aum Convention Centre” – a 450 seater A/C auditorium was developed near Pardi station and this helped us conduct several national, international conferences, lectures and updates in the field of infertility / USG / endoscopy (Millennium update 2001, 2005, 2008) and 4 conferences GPCON for general practitioners.

Our centre was recognized by FOGSI for training and fellowships in ART and USG. Since 2004, we have trained more than 600 Gynacologists from different parts of the country and several international students have also taken fellowships from our centres at Pardi Surat and Vapi. Our “A.R.T. (infertility)” training and fellowship academy was thus established.

“21st Century hospital and Test Tube Baby centre” (Surat) was started in Surat in 2007. Today this centre is our main infertility centre which offers all ART treatments, IVF ICSI, s***m retrievals, PGD cryopreservation etc under one roof with excellent success rates.

“21st Century Fertility Centre” is now being inaugurated in April 2014. It is a day care centre with consulting rooms, IUI lab, USG and OT for endoscopy & lap surgery and a small day care ward. This will help to service patients from Athwa, Ghoddod and Adajan and augment our existing 21st Century Surat IVF centre.

“Nadkarni Medical Foundation” was established as a charitable Trust in 2010 and this Trust does subsidized treatments and conducts camps, Public awareness programs in the field of Infertility and Cancer.

“3C Cancer Care Centre” was inaugurated in 2012 as the first cancer centre of Valsad district which offered preventive & curative cancer therapies to patients including chemotherapy and palliation and also advanced open & laparoscopic cancer surgeries.

“21st Century (E class) laparoscopic surgery centre” is an exclusive modern lap surgery O.T., laminar air flow with Ten (10) super deluxe rooms for E class service to patients. Opened 1st June 2014

“Eva Care”: 21st Century infertility centre will provide IUI / IVF / ICSI treatments with an ultramodern lab and USG machine for foetal medicine and high risk pregnancy management. Opened 1st June 2014

“Androfert” an exclusive andro embryology centre for males with focus on evaluation of male s***m defects, sexual medicine andropause and counseling and will function at Surat, Pardi & Vapi as parts of our IVF program (Mar 2014).
