As a doctor, I feel it is our responsibility to think beyond our specialisations. It infact becomes a bigger and collective responsibility to promote and advocate for a healthy lifestyle in our society. To***co does us no good. Consumption of to***co can cause a host of serious illnesses, even cancer. It's time we say no to to***co.

Addressed a women’s group today on the subject of Women's health. It's important that we engage with society outside our hospitals and OTs. If there is awareness around the topic, that's half the battle won.

Thanks Kuzhupilly Women's wing for inviting me to have this talk, it's always a heartening feeling to connect with women in their comfort zones and to help become aware about themselves.

I'm often asked, as to why I openly share and teach whatever I know?
I often reply, why not !

As St Francis of Assisi said, "it is in giving that you receive", I believe this 100%.

In order to learn, the best way is to teach. When I teach, my learning is reinforced. Medicine and surgery are constantly evolving and changing, the only way to keep pace, is to constantly sharpen ones own knowledge.

As my teacher Dr Dipak Limbachiya had once said, “Laparoscopy is not something we invented. It has been taught and passed down by those who made it. We can only learn and pass on the skills and knowledge. If we don’t teach somebody, somebody else will definitely do it. There is no dearth of teachers. But when you teach atleast you get to be a teacher for somebody and that is a lifelong relationship. Plus you learn in the process too."

Then why be insecure about sharing, why be selfish about knowledge, why be miserly about a profession that only teaches us to give. I am what I am today, because of all my teachers who handed down that knowledge to me.

It's the very least I can do.

They often give me all the credit, but it’s really my entire team that deserves it.

Every surgery, every procedure small or big, easy or complicated, is achieved by a highly skilled team working as a cohesive and an extremely efficient machine. Taking this opportunity to share the accolades and achievements with my entire team, it truly wouldn’t be possible without you. Many more to come !

Truly honoured to have been invited by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Ernakulam chapter to deliver a talk on Women's health and disease prevention. Addressed a gathering of 300 women on the occasion of International women's day. Women are the driving force of our society, the Shakti. I couldn't be more privileged to have interacted with all the vibrant women. Thank you Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh for this opportunity.

I had an opportunity to interact with the Post Graduate students at Cochin University of Science and Technology on health issues faced by women. The youth is the fuel for our future, any opportunity to interact with them is one of great responsibility, and one that I am happy to shoulder along with so many other teachers. After all as St Francis of Assisi said, "It is in giving, that you receive.."
