On 28 January 2026, SNIMS organized a Thyroid Awareness Class and Screening Program for the residents of Cheriyathekanam at Chiramugham Vishnu Temple Oottupura. The program aimed to educate the community about thyroid disorders, with special emphasis on recognizing early symptoms, understanding risk factors, and highlighting the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment.

The awareness session was led by Dr. Anand T. Reji, Senior Resident, Department of General Medicine, who conducted an informative and engaging interaction with the participants. Through a clear and patient-friendly approach, Dr. Anand T. Reji addressed common misconceptions, explained the impact of thyroid disorders on overall health, and encouraged participants to seek medical advice at an early stage.

Following the interactive session, a thyroid screening program was conducted, during which a significant number of beneficiaries availed themselves of the screening services. This initiative facilitated the early identification of individuals at risk for thyroid disorders and reinforced the importance of regular health check-ups. The program successfully enhanced community awareness and contributed to promoting better thyroid health among the residents

*SNIMS contributes to Oppam Mega Super Speciality Medical Camp – Season 5*

The Oppam Mega Super Speciality Medical Camp – Season 5, an initiative by Sri. P. Rajeev, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Law and Coir, was successfully conducted on 25 January 2026 at the Zamra International Convention Centre, Kalamassery. The camp served as an important platform for delivering quality healthcare services to the community.

Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS) was proud to be part of this impactful outreach programme. Participation was made possible under the clear guidance of our Executive Director, Lt Gen (Dr) Ajith Nilakantan, who consistently emphasizes that patient care is the utmost priority in all outreach and clinical initiatives. Guided by this principle, the SNIMS team delivered dedicated and compassionate services to the community.

The SNIMS medical team comprised Dr. Gladwin (Nephrology), Dr. Vishnu (Orthopaedics), Dr. Archana (Ophthalmology), Ms. Julie Chackochan (Nursing Supervisor), House Surgeons, Nursing Students, Ms. Sindhu (Optometrist), along with Mr. Sanker and Mr. Shaiju, who supported transportation services.
The programme was efficiently coordinated by Mr. Christus K. N., Nodal Officer and Deputy Manager – Operations, Dr. Deepu Dharmaraj, Deputy Manager – Outreach & Development, and Mr. Abhishek, Executive – Outreach & Development, ensuring the smooth ex*****on of all camp activities.

SNIMS extends its sincere gratitude to the Management, Medical Superintendent, Administration and Operations team, SNCON, PG's, House Surgeons for the cohesive teamwork that made the event a grand success once again.

🇮🇳 *Republic Day Celebrations at SNIMS* 🇮🇳

Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS) celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26 January 2026 with a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony held in front of the Administrative Block near the Dr. Palpu Statue.

The National Flag was hoisted by Ms. Manasa, University Topper – First Year MBBS Examination (August 2025), marking a proud moment for the institution. The ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Indira Kumari K. R., Principal, Mr. Christus K. N., Deputy Manager – Operations, along with faculty members and students.

On 24 January 2026, SNIMS conducted a *Thyroid Awareness Class and Screening Program* for Udayam Saamskarika Samithi, Nathiattukunnam focusing on the symptoms and the importance of early detection of thyroid disorders.
The session was led by Professor Dr. Joseph V. Francis (HOD, General Surgery) and Dr. Innu Ghosh M. A. (Senior Resident), who facilitated an engaging and interactive discussion with the participants.
After the interaction session, a thyroid screening was conducted, and they availed the opportunity to get checked for possible thyroid issues, ensuring timely identification and awareness of thyroid health.

*SNIMS engages ASHA Workers to Enhance Community Healthcare Services*

Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS) conducted an interaction session with the ASHA workers of Kunnukara Panchayat on 24 January 2026 at the Clinical Lecture Hall, SNIMS. The programme was felicitated by Mr. Anil G.M., Ward Member, Kunnukara Panchayat, and presided over by Dr. Deepu Dharma Rajan, Deputy Manager – Outreach Development.The session was supported by Mr. Christus K.N., Deputy Manager – Operations; Mr. Abith Ganesh, Deputy Manager – Planning and Development; Mr. Binoj Mohan K., Assistant Manager – Outreach and Development; along with the Operations team. Clinical interactions were led by Dr. T. S. Deepeka, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Sharmila S. Vandhana, Senior Resident, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, focusing on maternal healthcare, and gynaecology services at SNIMS.

SNIMS highlighted its comprehensive healthcare services, including 24-hour specialist care, the newly launched Oncology Department, advanced diagnostic facilities such as mammography, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening community-oriented healthcare delivery. The interaction enhanced awareness among ASHA workers and strengthened community outreach.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Seena Santhosh, ASHA Worker-cum-Ward Member, expressing appreciation to the SNIMS team, medical faculty, Operations team, and ASHA workers for their active participation and support.👇🏻

Proud Moment for SNIMS
On 21 January 2026, SNIMS was honoured to have Prof. Dr. Anoop Vincent, Additional Medical Superintendent & HOD, Psychiatry, at the Aster–Ochsner International Masterclass in Paediatrics.
He was felicitated during the programme in recognition of his contributions to mental health and academics. As President, Ernakulam Psychiatric Society, his presence added great value to the event.
