Daily dose of Motivation Continues….
On a rainy Sunday afternoon this elderly lady admitted through ER with severe breathing difficulties with loss of consciousness at home . She arrived in a gasping state and immediately intubated and ventilated. She stays alone and had been suffering from a recent gastroenteritis but the cause of deterioration of her health was heart failure . She improved gradually and after a waxing and waning course we could make her out of ventilator . Finally we could manage to send her home with a smile on her face .

“Doctor’s day and our daily gifts “

Each day is a Doctor’s day as we deal it in our own way …
If you ask me about the best gift of mine on this Doctor’s day — I’ll tell you this story —
This elderly male patient with advanced Parkinson’s disease and dementia came to ER in an almost gasping state with near respiratory arrest with high fever due to chest infection . He was severely hypoxic ( oxygen deficiency) and was intubated and ventilated as a life saving measure …
The treatment started and our daily struggle to manage this type of critical patient continued .
Now today on the morning of 1st July ,the so called Doctor’s day we were able to extubate the patient and make him breathe without ventilator support ..

The smile which I saw today on the face of Patient’s son is priceless and the best gift of mine on this Special day … every day is a Doctor’s day to me but today is special ,and it’s My Day ..❤️🙏🏼

This young lady came with severe right lower abdomen pain which was found to be renal colic due to impacted stone in the distal part of ureter . She was resuscitated and pain got relieved. My Urologist friend planned for surgery . Patient was tensed but when we came to know about her singing passion and also that she is a professional singer I personally requested her to sing a song . She readily accepted and just before going to OT this masterpiece was sung by her . This was a real stress buster I thing . Her Ot was uneventful and she has been discharged home with a happy face . …. This video has been published with prior permission from patient and her husband .

Sharing a positive story - story of a fighter .

Mrs Halder came to us from a renowned hospital of Kolkata with full ventilation support with paralysis of all 4limbs . She was suffering from a bad lung infection due to a fungus and a superadded bacterial infection and there was Tracheostomy tube for her ventilation,Ryle’s tube for her feeding and also her Bp was very low requiring special medicine (Vasopressor ) .
The diagnosis was Critical illness polyneuropathy for
which she developed paralysis of all the 4limbs (Quadruplegia). The reason for transfer to Remedy hospital was financial constraints and nothing much expected by family members .
But since very first day of my treatment she was very positive and we with the help of Neurologist, physiotherapist , swallow therapist and nursing staff made her improve day by day . Infection was controlled with antibiotics and antifungal followed by weaning her off from ventilator support . Then sequentially could remove her Tracheostomy tube ,Ryle’s tube and Foley’s catheter . She can now able to move and lift her limbs and also express her feelings with words after 6weeks of hospital stay . She dint give up for a single day during the crisis and always tried her best to cope up with the situation. Her fighting attitude always motivated us and ultimately we could send her home with a smile .

This year, 2024, the World Heart Day theme is “Use Heart for Action”. This theme highlights a shift from awareness to empowering with a clear purpose and goal. There is also the two-way nature of action: efforts to influence policies and advocate for behaviour change and physical activity. It reflects the requirement for sustained efforts and collaboration.
