A very rare case of Ectopic pregnancy where one fallopian tube was ruptured (right), but after Emergency Laparotomy, the other fallopian tube (left) also contained an unruptured Ectopic pregnancy.

An ectopic pregnancy is a condition where a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus (womb) instead of inside it.
Most commonly, it occurs in the fallopian tube, called tubal pregnancy.

This pregnancy cannot develop normally and can be dangerous if not managed early.

Risk Factors
Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
Previous ectopic pregnancy
Pelvic infections like PID
History of surgery in tubes
Smoking
Use of fertility treatments

Ectopic pregnancy can be diagnosed using:
Pelvic Ultrasound (TVS scan)
Blood tests (β-hCG levels)

Treatment depends on multiple factors
Medicine (Methotrexate) in selected cases

Laparoscopic surgery
Emergency surgery if rupture occurs

Ectopic pregnancy is a medical emergency, but early detection saves lives.

Normal delivery is the physiological birthing process which has numerous advantages for both mother and baby-

1) Faster Recovery – The mother usually recovers more quickly than after a C-section.
2) Shorter Hospital Stay – Mothers who have a normal delivery can often go home sooner.
3) Lower Risk of Infection – Since there is less intervention, the risk of infection is generally lower.
4) Less Blood Loss – Normal delivery usually involves less (almost half) blood loss compared to a C-section.
5) Immediate Bonding with Baby – The mother can hold and breastfeed the baby almost immediately after childbirth.
6) Better Breathing for the Baby – Passing through the birth canal helps remove fluid from the baby’s lungs, which can improve breathing.
7) Lower Risk in Future Pregnancies – Women who have normal deliveries often face fewer complications in future pregnancies.
8) No Surgical Risks – It avoids risks related to anesthesia and surgery.
