Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute (SGCCRI), in collaboration with the Indian Dietetic Association (IDA), Bengal Chapter, hosted the second edition of Onconutricon 2025 — a one-day national-level conference held on 12th July at Hotel Hindustan International (HHI), Kolkata. Focusing on “Personalized Nutrition in Critical Care Oncology – The Future of Cancer Care, Challenges and Opportunities,” the event highlighted the essential role of nutrition in cancer treatment and prevention.
Building on the success of the inaugural edition in 2024, this year's conference marked a significant step forward by expanding its reach nationally. The organizing committee comprised members from SGCCRI and IDA, including Chief Patron Mr. Anjan Gupta, Organizing Chairman Prof (Dr.) Arnab Gupta, Treasurer Dr. Gautam Bhattacharya, Organizing Secretary Ms. Aditi Adhya, and IDA leaders Ms. Malabika Datta and Ms. Shaonli Majumdar.
The event began with a short SGCCRI video, followed by lamp lighting, felicitation of dignitaries, and release of the conference souvenir. Welcome addresses were delivered by Mr. Anjan Gupta, Prof (Dr.) Arnab Gupta, and Dr. Gautam Bhattacharya, with Ms. Aditi Adhya delivering the vote of thanks.
Esteemed speakers from across India shared their insights, including Ms. Bhakti Samant (Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai) and Ms. Sunita Sahoo (Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar), along with local experts like Ms. Sanghamitra Chakravarti, Ms. Tiash Sinha, Mr. Soumyendu Ghosh, and doctors from SGCCRI. A notable panel discussion explored nutrition’s role in palliative cancer care.
Over 100 delegates attended, including students and professionals from various healthcare institutions. The event also featured poster and abstract presentations by MSc (Nutrition & Dietetics) students, with participation rising by 30% from the previous year—demonstrating the conference’s growing impact. The event concluded with prize distribution and appreciation for all contributors.
