In many Indian homes, OCD doesn’t look like a disorder — it looks like tradition, routine, or discipline. But behind the rituals and 'perfectionism' can lie distress, anxiety, and a need for control. Let’s talk about what often goes unseen.

If these patterns feel familiar to you or to someone you know, consider speaking to a mental health professional.

"I’m so OCD."

We’ve all heard it. But here’s the thing—OCD isn’t about liking your notes tidy or colour-coding your bookshelf.

It’s a serious mental health condition marked by intrusive, unwanted thoughts and repetitive behaviours done to ease intense anxiety.
Throwing the term around casually dilutes the reality of what living with OCD actually feels like.

✨ Let’s be more intentional with our words.
🧠 Let’s keep learning, unlearning, and growing.

When you are feeling overwhelmed, do you have a go-to way to calm yourself?

Self-soothing is a gentle reminder that we can be our own safe space. It is a valuable skill that helps regulate emotional responses and reduce distress.

Even small actions like a short mindful walk or intentional breathing can activate the parasympathetic nervous system — helping the body and mind return to a state of calm. These moments may seem simple, but they are powerful steps toward building inner resilience.

What's one self-soothing strategy that works for you?

Today is Autism Awareness Day!

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication, social interactions, and behavior. While every individual with autism is unique, research shows that early identification and evidence-based interventions significantly enhance developmental outcomes, supporting cognitive, social, and adaptive skills.

Raising awareness leads to timely diagnosis and access to critical support systems. So, this Autism Awareness Day, let’s advocate for early screening and intervention to maximize potential.

Let’s talk about resentment for a moment. Have you ever felt unappreciated, taken for granted, or just plain exhausted from always giving—only to then feel guilty about it?

Many people feel ashamed of their resentment. In the moment, they might feel frustrated—like they’re being used or unnoticed—but soon after, that frustration turns inward. Instead of recognizing it as a signal that something is off, they see it as evidence that they’re a bad person.

In response, they often people-please even more—over-giving, feeling resentful, and then doubling down on trying to be “good” to compensate. This creates a cycle that leaves them emotionally drained.

But here’s the truth: resentment isn’t proof of being a bad person. It’s a natural response that signals unmet needs. It’s the mind’s way of saying:
🔹 It’s time to set boundaries.
🔹 It’s time to prioritize self-care.
🔹 It’s time to communicate what you need.

Instead of being a source of shame, resentment can be a guide—a reminder that it’s time to refill one’s cup. 💙

Take a moment and ask yourself—how do you experience resentment?

Ask yourself:

1️⃣ How often do I feel resentful? And if I had to rate it on a scale from 1 to 10, where would I land?

2️⃣ Do I notice any patterns? Are there specific people or situations that trigger these feelings? If so, what might be causing that?

3️⃣ When resentment shows up, what do I need? What can I do for myself in that moment? And what might I need to express to others?

Remember: your answers can reveal a lot about where your boundaries may need adjusting. Resentment isn’t just an emotion—it’s information. What is yours telling you?

How many times have you heard someone on social media say: "I let my intrusive thoughts win today and cut my bangs!"
Social media has popularized many everyday thoughts as “intrusive thoughts,” but many of them don’t fit the actual clinical definition. Indeed, many of the “intrusive thoughts” that social media has popularized might actually just be fleeting impulses or random thoughts.

Genuinely intrusive thoughts, on the other hand, tend to be distressing, unwanted, and persistent, such as:

⚪ Violent thoughts that cause extreme distress (e.g., "What if I hurt my loved one?" despite never wanting to).
⚪ Morally repugnant thoughts (e.g., inappropriate sexual thoughts that disgust the person).
⚪ Existential fears or obsessive doubts (e.g., "What if I’m secretly a bad person?").

Real intrusive thoughts cause extreme anxiety and resistance, whereas social-media-style "intrusive thoughts" are often fleeting, quirky, or humorous.

If someone struggles with real intrusive thoughts, they may need therapy (especially ERP for OCD) or support to manage them.
