Cancer is a condition that spares none. Young or old, rich or poor, it can take anyone in its clutches, and when it does, its diagnosis triggers a wide variety of emotions and conflicts. Amidst the desperate desire to stay alive, and the harrowing process of arranging funds and manpower for the prolonged and often costly treatment schedules, as well as tackling the numerous treatment-related adverse events, the sheer emotional turmoil can cause unspeakable trauma to both patients and families.
World Cancer Day 2025, which is celebrated on this day, the 4th of February, has the theme " United by Unique". In envisions that each patient with Cancer is unique, not only in terms of the disease and its biological characteristics, but also in the way in which an individual approaches the diagnosis and its treatment. Both of these go hand in hand to determine how the patients fare in the long process of treatment.
Therefore, the onus is on us, the physicians and the healthcare team to make the cancer treatment journey bearable and ensure the best outcomes for our patients
