বর্তমান বিশ্বে মানুষের জন্য সবচেয়ে ঘাতক জিনিস হল Stress বা মানসিক পীড়ন। প্রায় ৯০% রোগের উৎপত্তিস্থল এই পীড়ন। যার পোশাকি নাম "Psycho somatic illness."
বিভিন্ন চিকিৎসা মাধ্যমে গবেষণা চলছে কিভাবে এর সফল মোকাবিলা করা যায়। নানারকম ওষুধ, থেরাপি দিয়ে দেখা হচ্ছে মানুষের শরীরে কিরকম প্রভাব পড়ে। সেই অনুযায়ী তালিকা তৈরীর কাজ চলছে।
এই সমস্যায় যোগ চিকিৎসার গুরুত্ব শুধু অপরিসীম বললে ভুল হবে, আমার মতে যোগ চিকিৎসা এই সমস্যা সমাধানের শ্রেষ্ঠ মাধ্যম। যোগচিকিৎসার মূল কথা "Prevention is better than cure." অর্থাৎ রোগ হবার আগে বা রোগের অঙ্কুরোদ্গমের সময়েই তাকে প্রতিহত করে দাও। যাতে পরবর্তী স্তরে শরীরে বা মনে ডালপালা মেলতে না পারে।
ছোট্টবেলা থেকে যদি সঠিক দিশায় যোগ অভ্যেস করা যায় তবে তার রোগ হবার প্রবণতা অনেক কমে যায়। বড় হয়ে যাবার পরেও যোগ অভ্যেস শুরু করা যায়, আমরা বলি ৬-৯৬ যে কোনো বয়সে আমরা যোগ অনুশীলন শুরু করতে পারি।
নিজের জীবনের স্টিয়ারিং কিন্তু আপনাদের হাতে। ভেবে দেখুন কোনদিকে গতিপথ নির্ধারণ করবেন? সুস্থ, সুন্দর জীবনযাপন না ওষুধের ওপর বেঁচে থাকা? Choice is yours.

শিক্ষাগ্রহণের পথে প্রথম অন্তরায় হলো অবিদ্যা বা অজ্ঞানতা। আর দ্বিতীয় অন্তরায় হলো অস্মিতা বা অহংকার।
অজ্ঞানতা প্রকৃত জ্ঞানকে উপেক্ষা করে এবং অহংকার তাকে ভিতরে প্রবেশ করতে দেয়না।
এই দুটোকে যদি জয় করা যায় তবে একজন ব্যক্তি প্রকৃত শিক্ষিত হতে পারে।

যোগের জগতে "গুরু শিষ্য পরম্পরা" এই কথাটা বহুল প্রচলিত। আমাদের জীবনের সব ক্ষেত্রে এই গুরু শিষ্য পরম্পরা চলে আসছে।
আমাদের জীবনের প্রথম গুরু "মা", তিনি শেখান সহবৎ, আচার ব্যবহার। পড়াশোনার প্রথম পাঠ পাই মায়ের থেকে। বাবা আমাদের দ্বিতীয় গুরু, যিনি সমাজের সাথে আমাদের মিলতে শেখান, মানুষের সাথে চলতে শেখান। তৃতীয় গুরু হলেন আত্মীয় স্বজন, চতুর্থ গুরু শিক্ষক শিক্ষিকা। যাঁদের থেকে আমরা জীবনের পাঠ নিই, জীবনে কিভাবে চলবো, বলবো সেই পাঠ নিই। আমার জীবনের দিশা কিভাবে নির্দিষ্ট করবো, কিভাবে সেই লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছাবো সবকিছু শিক্ষক শিক্ষিকাদের থেকে আমরা শিখি। পঞ্চম গুরু হলো সমাজের সেইসব মানুষ যাদের থেকে আমরা প্রতিদিন কিছু না কিছু শিখি। সে আমার বন্ধু, পড়শি, সহযাত্রী, সহমর্মী সবাই। এনারা আমাকে বারংবার অন্ধকার থেকে আলোয় পৌঁছাতে সহায়তা করেছেন। গুরু শব্দের অর্থ তো তাই-ই।
