Scoliosis Screening Camp at Duff High School for Girls

On 11th September 2025, Spine Research Foundation conducted a Scoliosis Screening Camp at Duff High School for Girls.
Dr. Saumyajit Basu, globally renowned spine surgeon, and Dr. Trinanjan Sarangi, Chief Neuro Anaesthetist and Intensivist, highlighted the importance of early screening for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) to ensure timely intervention and better outcomes.
Dr. Deepanshu Maheswari (undergoing fellowship in spine surgery) screened more than 50 students during the camp, helping spread awareness about spinal health at an early age.
We are grateful to the school authorities for their keen interest and active participation, making this initiative a success. Together, we move one step closer to building a future of healthier spines. πŸ’™

πŸŒ€ What Causes Scoliosis? πŸŒ€
June is Scoliosis Awareness Month, and it's time to raise awareness and bust some myths!
Did you know that poor posture does NOT cause scoliosis?

πŸ‘£ Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves sideways and affects 2–3% of people. There are several types:

βœ… Idiopathic – Most common, especially in teens, with no known cause.
βœ… Congenital – The spine doesn't form properly before birth.
βœ… Neuromuscular – Linked to conditions like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy.
βœ… Degenerative – Caused by age-related spinal changes.

Understanding scoliosis is the first step toward early detection and proper care.

πŸ” Know your curve.
