SUCESS STORY of MEDICAL MANAGEMENT of ECTOPIC PREGNANCY WITH VERY HIGH BETA HCG LEVELS

Ectopic pregnancy, a dreaded clinical condition where the pregnancy is located outside the uterus in fallopian tube . If this pregnancy ruptured after 6-7 weeks it can cause life threatening bleeding in women and lead to death if not treated on an emergency basis .

Mrs A , presentented with ectopic pregnancy in her rt fallopian tube . Initial Beta HCG was 5000 IU + which is at a borderline level for medical/ surgical management.
Medical management was done with inj methotrexate . After the initial rise to 10,000 IU, beta HCG started to come down gradually .The ectopic pregnancy size which was initially 3x2.5 cm with peripheral vascularity(13/6) also started to reduce and was reabsorbed completely on the 26/11 USG , which didnot show any adnexal mass.

Throughout the treatment period, patient came for regular follow up and did all the blood and USG investigations as advised .
