A patient experiencing pain and discomfort in the lower abdomen due to a large pelvic mass was diagnosed with a 10x7 cm dermoid cyst on Ultrasound. on laparoscopy it was occupying almost full pelvis. A dermoid cyst, also known as a mature cystic teratoma, is a benign tumor typically found in the ovaries. These cysts can contain a variety of tissues such as hair, skin, and teeth. Often asymptomatic, dermoid cysts can sometimes cause abdominal pain, bloating, and discomfort, especially if they grow large or rupture. Dermoid cysts are conge***al, meaning they are present at birth, and arise from germ cells, which are capable of developing into various tissue types. This cyst was successfully managed laparoscopically! And ensured a quick recovery and minimal discomfort for the patient and discharged next day.
