1. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids: salmon, walnuts, flaxseeds, and chia seeds are rich in omega-3s and can help reduce inflammation in the body.
2. Foods high in vitamin C: Vitamin C is essential for collagen production, which is crucial for healthy tendons and ligaments.
3. Foods rich in antioxidants: Antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress in the body, which can contribute to inflammation.
4. Foods high in protein: Protein is essential for muscle repair and recovery.
5. Foods rich in magnesium: Magnesium is essential for muscle relaxation and can help reduce muscle tension and inflammation.

Lifestyle changes:
● Exercise regularly to strengthen muscles - Focus on eccentric exercises for the wrist extensor muscles like wrist curls.
● Use proper equipment and technique for racquet sports - Use a racquet with an appropriate grip size, string tension, and weight.
● Take adequate breaks during repetitive gripping tasks - Take short breaks every 30-60 minutes during prolonged tasks involving gripping motions like typing, gardening, or using tools. Let the tissues rest.
● Maintain proper posture and wrist position when working - Avoid using an awkward grip or bent wrist which strains the tendon attachment at the elbow. Keep wrists straight.
● Use an elbow brace or counterforce strap - The compression helps take stress off the affected tendon.
● Modify activity techniques to reduce elbow strain - Switch hands during tasks, use two hands instead of one, change grip position, etc.
● Limit forceful wrist movements - Go easy on heavy lifting, hitting, throwing, etc. Restrict racquet sports during symptom flare-ups.
● Address other risk factors - Being overweight, sedentary lifestyle, smoking, etc. increase injury risk. Make necessary lifestyle changes.

Let’s talk a brief about Tennis elbow today.

Despite its name, most people who get tennis elbow don't play tennis
So What is Tennis Elbow:

Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a condition that can result from overuse of the muscles and tendons in the elbow. Tennis elbow is often linked to repeated motions of the wrist and arm.

When does it happen:
Activities that can cause tennis elbow include:
● Playing racket sports, especially using backhand, with poor form.
● Using plumbing tools.
● Painting.
● Driving screws.
● Cutting up foods for cooking, particularly meat.
● Using a computer mouse a lot.

How does it happen
The pain of tennis elbow occurs mainly where the tough, cord-like tissues of the forearm muscles attach to a bony bump on the outside of the elbow. The tissues are known as tendons. Pain can spread into the forearm and wrist.

Symptoms of frozen shoulder
The pain of tennis elbow can travel from the outside of the elbow into the forearm and wrist. Pain and weakness can make it hard to:
● Shake hands or grip an object.
● Turn a doorknob.
● Hold a coffee cup.

Risk factors
Factors that can increase the risk of tennis elbow include:
● Age. Tennis elbow affects people of all ages. But it's most common in adults between the ages of 30 and 60.
● Work. People who have jobs that involve repeating motions of the wrist and arm are more likely to develop tennis elbow. These include plumbers, painters, carpenters, butchers and cooks.
● Certain sports. Playing racket sports increases the risk of tennis elbow. Not having good form or using poor equipment increases the risk even more. Playing more than two hours a day also increases the risk.
Other factors that can increase the risk include smoking, being obese and certain medicines.

how to treat frozen shoulder

Well we have already spoken about a bit on frozen shoulder in our last post.
In case, you have missed that, don’t forget to check out this link- (pls place the link here)
Today, we are gonna talk on how can we treat or reverse this painful condition through implementing healthy food and lifestyle changes.
Treatment options for frozen shoulder depend on the severity of your symptoms. Although, most cases improve on their own, some cases can take over a year to resolve.

Lifestyle changes advised:

Take a break:
A frozen shoulder can sometimes mean you need to take some time off work to help recovery.
This may mean taking a break from office, your kitchen, driving, swimming or anything which makes you tired or exhausted. Resting is the key.

Exercising:
This is of utmost importance since the right movement will help develop the strength, muscle mass, help build the cartilage so that the inflammation reduces and the pain starts coming down.

Sleep quality:
Sleep deeply impacts your pain intensity as insufficient sleep doesn’t let your body repair and you feel more pain, more stressed out.
You may take help of supplements like L- Thyamine, zinc, magnesium glycinate (only with a advice of a healthcare professional) and get your sleep sorted.

Body posture:
While working, studying or cooking, try to place your shoulder in a comfortable position so that it strained and your joints and muscles are not over exerted.

Food habits:
Try to avoid these foods as much as possible if you have symptoms of frozen shoulder:
Veggies such as tomatoes, turnip, arbi, spinach
No sweets at all
No dairy products

In case the symptoms don’t improve even after implementing the aforesaid, please go and see a doctor or a healthcare professional sooner and start with your treatment process as the sooner it is, the better the chances of reversal.
Stay tuned for more updates.

Let’s talk a brief about frozen shoulder today.

What is frozen shoulder
Frozen shoulder is a painful condition in which your shoulder movement becomes limited. Another name for frozen shoulder is adhesive capsulitis.

When does it happen:
Frozen shoulder occurs when the strong connective tissue surrounding your shoulder joint (called the shoulder joint capsule) becomes thick, stiff and inflamed.

How does it happen
This condition can appear without any apparent reason, however, your risk of developing a frozen shoulder can increase if you have:
● a previous shoulder injury or shoulder surgery
● diabetes or a thyroid problem
● Dupuytren’s contracture – a condition where small lumps of thickened tissue form in the hands and fingers
● other health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke
Symptoms of frozen shoulder
Pain and persistent stiffness in the shoulder joint are the two main symptoms of a frozen shoulder.

Do you really need to take this seriously
Frozen shoulder can start with pain without any cause or minor trauma. The pain may be severe and prevent you from moving your arm. This lack of movement can lead to stiffness and even less motion. Over time, you are not able to do movements such as reaching over your head or behind you.
