National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan) is an apex organization in the area of locomotor disability which came into the service since 1978 as an autonomous body under the ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It is located in the city Kolkata and expanding its services whole countrywide.

NILD conducted Sugamya Yatra and visited to Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata on 21st August 2025. Rehabilitation Professionals and technical persons alongwith 04 PwDs conducted the audit campaign and assessment.
The suggestions and recommendations were obtained from the PwDs regarding the accessibility of the entire campus. Staff from ISI extended support and cooperation in conduct of the assessment campaign.

Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, NILD, Kolkata, has organized an RCI-accredited National Level online Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) on “Assessment & Rehabilitation Management of Low Back Pain” on August 21, 2025 for rehab. Professionals.
Dr. Lalit Narayan, Director, NILD, Kolkata was the patron of the CRE and Dr. Ameed Equebal, Asstt. Director, (Training) delivered the inaugural address. Mr.Vidya Bhusan, Lecturer, Physiotherapy, CRC- Patna and Shri. Parthasarathi Swain, Prosthetist & Orthotist, CRC- Patna were speakers of the CRE. Ms. Prachi Prava Pattnaik, Clinical Tutor (P&O) was the coordinator of CRE. The program was interpreted in sign language by Mr. Narayan Roy, ISL interpreter, AYJNISHD, RC, Kolkata. Total. Total 169 Rehab. Professionals and students attended the CRE.

Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, MSJE ने आज Nipman Foundation और YLAC - Young Leaders for Active Citizenship के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन (MoU) पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

इस साझेदारी के अंतर्गत “ब्रेकिंग बैरियर्स फ़ेलोशिप” की शुरुआत की गई है, जिसके माध्यम से योग्य युवा पेशेवरों को के कार्यालयों में नियुक्त किया जाएगा ताकि नीतिगत सहयोग, कार्यक्रमों के क्रियान्वयन को सुदृढ़ किया जा सके तथा दिव्यांगजन अधिकार अधिनियम, 2016 के प्रभावी अनुपालन को सुनिश्चित किया जा सके।

यह विभाग के निदेशक, श्री आशीष ठाकरे, निपमैन फाउंडेशन के संस्थापक श्री निपुण मल्होत्रा, एवं YLAC के सह-संस्थापक श्री रोहित कुमार द्वारा हस्ताक्षरित किया गया। इस अवसर पर विभाग के सचिव श्री राजेश अग्रवाल, एवं अतिरिक्त सचिव, सुश्री मनमीत कौर नंदा, उपस्थित रहे।

NILD, Kolkata enthusiastically celebrated 79th Independence Day on the theme *NAYA BHARAT* on 15th August, 2025.
On the occasion Dr. Ameed Equebal, Asst. Director (Training) hoisted the Tricolor in presence of Sri Sougato Banerjee, Dy. Director (Admin) NILD, Sri Dasharath Choudhury, Officer Incharge, RC-NIEPID, Sri B N. Rao, Assistant Director, ERC-AYJNISHD and other officials, Divyangjan & students.
Students and Divyangjan performed a cultural programme with enthusiasm and patriotism, Persons with intellectual disabilities performed March Past with drums and band team.
On the occasion refreshment packet distributed to indoor Patients/Divyangjan, students, staff and other participants of the program.
